One of my favorite and rarest wildlife encounters yet! 📸
Meet Red Wolf 2225F
At 8 years old, she is considered one of the most elusive Red Wolves in today’s wild population.
Recognized by her old tracking collar without a reflective ID (the only one listed as “n/a” on the USFWS site), she has given new hope to the wild population with her large litters.
Prior to her first litter in 2022, there had been no Red Wolves born in the wild since 2018. She then had litters in 2023 and 2024. Before those 3 consecutive litters, the wild population was down to just 7 known Red Wolves in the early 2020s. The current wild population includes 26 known/collared wolves as of February 2026, according to the USFWS site.
Prior to the 2025 breeding season, 2225F was overtaken by her daughter, 2503F, as the breeding female of the Milltail pack of Red Wolves. Though she was overtaken, she has been documented continuing to assist in raising her daughter’s pups.
So thankful for this opportunity to photograph one of the most endangered species in the world!

One goal on my recent trip to eastern NC was to photograph owls. Prior to this trip, I had photographed a few but never got the shots I was looking for. On this particular morning, my goal was met by spending an hour observing and photographing this owl perched as well as actively hunting for food (more to come on that 🦞)

Saddened by the passing of Kyle Busch.
One of the most talented drivers NASCAR has ever had. Gone way too soon.
Prayers for the Busch family 🙏
