As Idalia continues to sweep inland expect heavy, flooding rain and destructive winds over Florida and parts of the southeastern United States through Thursday. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 75 mph with higher gusts. Idalia is expected to turn toward the northeast tonight, followed by an eastward motion on Thursday. On the forecast track, the center of Idalia will continue moving across southeastern Georgia through this evening, near the coast of South Carolina tonight, and just offshore the coast of southern North Carolina on Thursday. Idalia is then expected to move southeastward over the Atlantic on Friday.

Hurricane Idalia To Strengthen As It Aims For Florida
Hurricane Idalia is expected to rapidly intensify as it tracks north-northeast through the Gulf of Mexico into Tuesday night, reaching Category 3 strength before making landfall in Florida on Wednesday morning. There is the potential for Idalia to reach Category 4 strength before landfall. Heavy, flooding rain and damaging winds are expected over Florida and parts of the Southeast U.S. through Thursday, coastal flooding from significant storm surge is expected along parts of Florida's Gulf coast. Idalia Poses A Significant Risk To Florida
Tropical Storm Idalia is moving toward the north with a continued northward motion, bringing the center over the extreme southeastern Gulf of Mexico by early Tuesday. On the forecast track, Idalia is projected to increase in forward speed, turn northeastward over the eastern Gulf of Mexico on Tuesday, and reach the Gulf coast of Florida on Wednesday. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 65 mph with higher gusts. Idalia is expected to strengthen to a category 1 hurricane later today with sustained winds over 74 mph, and a dangerous major hurricane over the northeastern Gulf of Mexico by early Wednesday. A major hurricane is classified as a Category 3 or higher on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale with winds of 111 mph or greater. Hilary to Bring Catastrophic Flooding To Southwest U.S.
Hilary was a Category 1 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale (maximum sustained winds of 130-156 mph) as of Sunday morning and was located about 375 miles south of San Diego, California, moving to the north rather quickly at 21 mph. 🌀 Weakening is expected, but Hilary is likely to still be a hurricane while it passes near the west coast of the central Baja California Peninsula in the next few hours. Hilary is expected to weaken to a tropical storm before it reaches southern California this afternoon. ⛈️

Hurricane Hilary Threatens Catastrophic Flooding
After rapidly gaining power early Friday, Hilary remained a major Category 4 hurricane🌀 early Saturday with maximum sustained winds dropping from 145mph to 130mph. Early Saturday, the storm was centered about 260 miles west-southwest of the southern tip of the Baja peninsula. Hurricane officials said the storm could bring heavy rainfall to the southwestern United States, dumping 3 to 6 inches in places, with isolated amounts of up to 10 inches, in portions of southern California and southern Nevada. 🌧️
