If we can pull one good thing from COVID, it's that we've probably advanced more in one year than we would have in 10 years in terms of embracing the miracles of technology in how we do work.

Georgia’s statewide judicial emergency to be extended to June 12
The courts may be closed, but we are not. There's lots of work that goes into a court hearing, so all that this means is that we're able to attend to the prep work that leads up to the courts being open again. Give us a call and let's get started. We are fully capable of moving cases on a virtual basis and are utilizing all available technology to help those who are trying to be socially responsible with their distancing, including videoconferencing through video calling.

What if the Coronavirus makes us work from home forever?
I've been saying for weeks now that we're living in a petri dish experiment. I had already been utilizing a model the essentially makes our brick and mortar office simply a place to meet clients; everything that we do can be done from anywhere (except appear in court and meet clients).
So this change in environment really hasn't changed anything on our end, except that I'm sure we'll soon be seeing what is already only a very small portion of the population with the ability to pay for legal services getting even smaller as folks are displaced from their incomes.
What if the Coronavirus makes us work from home forever? American workers are participating in “the largest social experiment ever.”

Here's a copy of the Governor's Stay in Shelter Order. It takes effect at 6:00 P.M. tomorrow (Friday, March 2nd, 2020) and expires at midnight on the following Monday (April 13th).
I believe that we fall within the exception for "essential critical infrastructure workforce", as defined in this order, as we are working in support of the operations of the judicial system.
That being said, I believe that the spirit of the order compels us to conduct business from home except by appointment from individual clients. We are allowed to travel to and from the office and the courthouses in support of minimum basic operations, but we will endeavor to do as much of that remotely as is possible.
I could go into greater detail, but if you have any questions, please give us a call. 706-896-5291, where we are still open to help guide you through these troubled times!

This is huge in theory, but it will take some time to see whether judges pay it much attention in practice.

Can ‘SNL’ star Pete Davidson really collect $1M from fans who violate his nondisclosure agreement?
The language is probably worth about as much as the ink on the ticket and probably does more damage to him through off-putting of fans than he'd ever gain through enforcement.
Can ‘SNL’ star Pete Davidson really collect $1M from fans who violate his nondisclosure agreement? Saturday Night Live comedian Pete Davidson may scare fans into keeping quiet with a $1 million nondisclosure agreement, but it’s unlikely he will be able to enforce the contract in court, legal experts say.

It could happen to anyone...you borrow someone else's pants and, before you can realize what's happening, law enforcement discovers that the *real* owner of the pants left his or her drugs in the pockets.
Our advice:
1. Don't borrow your shady friend's pants;
2. If you must borrow your shady friend's pants, make sure to empty the pockets before putting them on; and
3. If you didn't follow 1 and 2, give us a call after you've been booked.
We at the Kitty Hawk Police Department understand that some of North Carolina's laws may be confusing. We also understand that educating you about the laws when you are being placed into handcuffs may be a little untimely. We thought if we could avoid more paperwork, and you could avoid going to jail, we both win. So, we have decided to post periodic educational messages on how to avoid going to jail. Here is the first of many to come:
Prior to wearing someone else’s pants, please remove all drugs, drug paraphernalia, stolen goods or any other illegal items the “owner” of the pants may have left behind. “These are not my pants” is not an affirmative defense. Glad we could help.
Disclaimer: We are not attorneys nor non-attorney spokespersons and this message is not intended as legal advice. Please speak to an actual attorney prior to wearing someone else’s pants with drug filled pockets.
