Happy first day of astronomical fall! (Well technically it starts at 9:04 PM EDT). Following a cold front pushing through the area today, temps across the area should feel fall like tomorrow morning to celebrate the first full day of fall! 🍂

Weather Alert: ⛈ Risk of Strong to Severe Thunderstorms Today and Tomorrow

The Storm Prediction Center has outlined a slight risk for severe weather across our territory today and tomorrow, due to a threat of damaging wind gusts and hail with thunderstorms that are possible each afternoon. While summertime thunderstorms are not uncommon for our territory (and wind gusts and power outages with them), storms the next couple of days could be a little stronger than we typically would expect this time of year. Stay tuned to official sources such as the National Weather Service for forecasts and any warnings that are issued, and watch our outage map for updates on any power outages that may occur. http://outage.brmemc.com:8008/

A strong cold front is forecast to pass through our area tonight, bringing a chance of severe storms to the territory. This afternoon, isolated thunderstorms may develop, with the threat for damaging winds, hail, and perhaps an isolated tornado. Then later this evening, a squall line will approach from the west, bringing another threat for damaging winds and possibly a tornado as well.

All of these storms will have the potential to produce power outages, so keep up to date with our outage map at brmemc.com and keep cell phones charged. Also, be sure to follow the latest forecasts and alerts from the National Weather Service throughout the day, and be prepared to seek shelter if a tornado warning is issued for your location.
