Our St. Joseph Church Pack 913 Cub Scouts have again earned the National Catholic Unit Excellence Gold Award as well at the Boy Scouts of America Journey to Excellence Gold for 2021 for unit planning and performance.

We wish to thank all the parent and parent unit volunteers for their many hours of dedication in service leading and guiding our wonderful Cub Scout youth ministry.

On this day in 1969, 52 years ago, Neil Armstrong took a giant leap for humankind by being the first man on the moon! 🌕 An Eagle Scout himself, Armstrong took his World Scout Badge to the moon. ⚜️ On the way, he sent a message to US Scouts wishing them a good time at their Jamboree.

I was taking a break from TI Camp Staff to attend the National Jamboree in Idaho.

Three WEBELOS Scouts from Den 1 earning their “WEBELOS Walkabout” Adventure Pin in Algonkian Park.

Almost 5 miles and described as “tiring but good” by one of the Scouts. They’re already looking forward to another hike with the rest of the Den that couldn’t make it today.

Pack 913 WEBELOS Den 1 met with Herndon Police Officer Murn to learn a little bit about Herndon Police heroes. The Scouts also presented Officer Murn with an award to thank him for his service to the community, especially for helping students as the HPD School Resource Officer.

Pack 913 is hosting a Netflix Watch Party (for those who have Netflix) this Sunday at 3 PM. This is a great opportunity to gather the family and join the pack for some silly fun. Why not pop some of that Scout Popcorn you still have from last fall (I know I am still working my way through the Unbelievable Butter we bought)? Since we didn't get to see the silliness of the Globetrotters, we will be watching Space Jam. Watch as the Looney Tunes make a desperate attempt to win a basketball match and earn their freedom with the aid of retired basketball champion, Michael Jordan.

Milkweed for Monarchs Starter Kits Available for Curbside Pick Up - 30 Kit Limited Supply

Looking for a fun and easy project for the kids? Tommy spent his day putting together a self-serve drive up Milkweed for Monarchs conservation station containing 30 kits for Pack 913. Each kit contains seeds for one type of milkweed, all 3 of which are native to Virginia (Giant Pink Hisbiscus, Mexican Sunflower, Milkweed – Asclepias Syriaca), potting soil, and complete directions to grow your milkweed. Just drive up to the curb anytime from now until next Sunday (or until supplies last) and grab a kit. Rubber gloves and hand sanitizer are also on the table if you desire to use. This is a fun conservation project that will satisfy some conservation adventure requirements.
