Congratulations to Wilson Merino the Get2Green essay contest winner. His essay was titled “How To Help Birds For a More Friendly Environment.” Thank you to the Northern Virginia Bird Alliance for providing a swag bag including a pair of binoculars for bird watching.

Our incredible 6th graders recently hosted a fantastic fundraising car wash for the school, showing everyone the power of hard work and community spirit! They demonstrated their commitment to earning something meaningful and contributing to our school.
They also enjoyed their awesome Kings Dominion field trip! This trip wasn't just a reward—it's tied to real academic expectations and meaningful conversations about character. We're so proud of how our students are learning, growing, and stepping into the world with both knowledge and purpose!

Students in Get2Green worked on clearing the garden beds for spring planting! 🌱

Our kindergarteners had an absolute blast last week meeting some special farm animals right here at school! 🐐🐑 What an incredible hands-on learning experience to see how these animals live, what they eat, and how they grow.

Get2Green has collected 123 pounds of plastic so far! Keep sending your plastic bags and films for our recycling project. Our goal is 1000 pounds!

Our before-school Coffee Club has blossomed into its very own student-run business: Coates Cosmic Coffee! Every Thursday, these young entrepreneurs step into various roles as baristas, organizing deliveries, managing orders, and running their own business. This hands-on experience is giving them invaluable opportunities to develop their Portrait of a Graduate durable skills, including collaboration, communication, and goal-directed and resilient individual. This exciting opportunity was made possible thanks to a generous grant from Educate Fairfax.

Last week our safety patrols got an inside look at the important work our local police officers do every day. They learned about teamwork, responsibility, and the different ways they can contribute to a safe and positive community. A big thank you to the Fair Oaks Police Department for this invaluable learning experience!

Kindergarteners thinking big! Students used embedded sentence frames and structures to compare the author’s point of view to their own about communities.

Ms. Balangyao's 3rd graders engaged in a fantastic collaborative conversation and thoughtfully shared their reflections. It's wonderful to see them build on each other's ideas.

Look at these amazing kindergarten detectives in Ms. Grande's class! They're independently diving into their student magazines, hot on the trail of a tricky riddle. So much focus and fun happening here!

Get2Green students made birdfeeders using pinecones, peanut butter and birdseed. Students hung the feeders in our schoolyard. We can’t wait to see what birds the feeders attract to our community!

Students in Ms Luecke's second grade class read an informational journal called A Dinosaur Named Sue during Benchmark. We were very interested in being a Paleontologist so we put it to the test! After researching about the job, the second graders learned it took a lot of patience, hard work and determination to uncover our fossils with a little pick.
