JUST IN 🚨 A 26-year-old Fort Hood soldier was found dead Saturday behind his barracks at the base, according to military officials. They just identified him as Specialist Maxwell Hockin. Here's the latest information from the army.

"Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who died Oct. 9 near his company area here.

Spc. Maxwell Hockin, 26, who was assigned to 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, entered the Army in March 2017 as a combat engineer. Hockin had been assigned to the 91st Engineer Battalion, here, since July 2017.

Hockin’s awards and decorations include the Army Good Conduct Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon.

“The entire Saber family is devastated by the loss of our true teammate and friend Specialist Maxwell Hockin,” said Lt. Col. Patrick Sullivan, commander, 91st Engineer Battalion. “He had an outstanding work ethic, was a mentor to his peers, and was always willing to help out the team. He will truly be missed. Our thoughts and our prayers are with Maxwell’s family during this difficult time.”

The incident is under investigation by the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command. No further information will be released at this time while the investigation is underway."

Capt. Kaitlin Toner, media relations chief of the Space and Missile Systems Center at Los Angeles Air Force Base, will serve as the Public Affairs Officer for the team.

Toner is a highly skilled and experienced public affairs professional who has led teams in Kuwait, Qatar and various locations across the United States. We are excited for her to join our team and carry on the mission of representing America’s Air Force!

She will replace Maj. Remoshay ‘Flare’ Nelson, who was selected for a special duty assignment and will depart the team mid-June 2021.

Do you have what it takes to be the face of the Marine Corps for the next generation? MCRC is looking for a group of 20 to 34-year-old male and female Marines to be photographed at an outdoor location (TBD) on Camp Lejeune May 12 modeling the Marine Corps Dress Blue Alphas (medals) for future recruitment materials.

Rank preference is Corporal to Gunnery Sergeant and 2nd Lieutenant to Major. Female Marines must have the new Dress Blue coat. MCRC will be hosting a casting call Monday, May 10 in the MCIEAST Commanding General’s briefing room on the first floor of Bldg. 1 next to the traffic circle from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. You are free to come in the uniform of the day for the casting call but must have a Dress Blue uniform for the photo shoot. MCRC does ask that you bring your Dress Blue cover to the casting call, but is not required.
