Mississippi’s cadre of crisis recovery counselors is in place after a great training in Madison County.

The SREB Crisis Recovery Network is building capacity to support students' recovery after crisis at a school or college. The goal: A pool of counselors with specialized training from each SREB state.

Students, teachers and entire communities are left to cope with emotional and psychological wounds after catastrophic events like hurricanes, tornadoes, floods or violence on campus. The Network will support them with timely, trauma-informed psychological first aid and mental health crisis intervention.

This takes at least a year of dedicated support. Recovery does not happen by having counselors available for a few days after students return. It is an extended healing process.

Excellence in Volunteerism Scholarship!

The Arc Northwest Mississippi is proud to support the dedication and hard work of our amazing volunteers through the Excellence in Volunteerism Scholarship!

We will be awarding six (6) $500 scholarships to outstanding volunteers who are continuing their education. This opportunity is open to graduating high school seniors, current college students, and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities pursuing their educational goals.
