We are so proud of our HHS STUCO and students. These kids always rise to the challenge to help their Blackcat Community. We told them we needed 36 Thanksgiving food boxes for families in need. They collected enough food for 40+ boxes and 70 turkeys!! Way to go Blackcats! 🐾

A parent asked a great question so we thought we would clarify here. There is no registration to participate in the program and children do not have to be present I pick up the food.

We are blessed with so many great partnerships and New Hope Fellowship is one of them! Prior to COVID, they provided dinners to students participating in our after-school tutoring programs. We are so glad they are back this year (with a few modifications 😉 )! Now, families can pick up a week's worth of dinner meals for each child starting this Saturday, October 9th any time from 1:30-2:30 at the Pevely Elementary Parking lot.
This will continue every Saturday for the remainder of the school year.

It may be July, but we are already planning for Back to school!

Each August we host our annual back-to-school fair that helps over 100 students in our district to receive supplies and prepare for the upcoming school year. At the fair, Dunklin R-5 students are able to receive all the essentials they need to start the school year on the right foot including backpacks, school supplies, resources, and clothing.

This year, our fair will be held on August 12, 2021 from 2pm-6pm, in the gym at Herculaneum High School.

We could really use your support and help by collecting or donating school supplies for our students. Donations will need to be dropped off at Herculaneum High School by August 9th.

Unable to host a collection event but would like to help? There are still many ways to be involved including:
Share this information with friends, families, co-workers, churches, businesses. The more people we can get involved the better!
A monetary donation. Payments can be made to: Dunklin R-5 School District ℅ Bright Futures and mailed to: 497 Joachim Ave. Herculaneum, MO 63048
Volunteer. We can always use an extra pair of hands! From set up to break down, there are many ways to plug in at the Back to School Fair.
Consider being a vendor at the fair. If you are able to provide a service that may benefit our students, please let us know. We would love to have you!

Our Story

Welcome to Bright Futures Dunklin!

Bright Futures USA is a framework that helps bring together businesses, human service agencies, faith-based organizations, parent groups and individuals in an effort to create lasting connections to help all kids succeed.
By engaging the community, we can create a learning atmosphere that enables students and teachers to focus on education and achieving success. Bright Futures operates under the belief that when communities invest their time, talent, and treasure in their schools, students are more likely to stay in school through graduation, have a higher degree of self-worth and confidence, and set and reach goals for the future. In turn, these students grow up to be better neighbors, quality employees, and impactful leaders in their communities.

The question has been posed to us, “Why Dunklin, and why now?” As educators, our priority is to provide the best education to our students, but more importantly to keep our students safe and secure. There are many students and families in our community that are going through tough times right now, and sometimes they need a little assistance to get them back on track. We know that meeting the basic needs of our students is vital to the success of our school district. Regardless, there are students that need our help, and we must try to meet their needs as a community.

Bright Futures Dunklin is going to take all of the great things that we already do and help organize those efforts to effectively engage the time, talent, and treasure of community members. Because every child deserves a champion.
