What an incredible day at the transition camp for our graduating students! 🎓
We had the joy of handing out computers to help these amazing young people as they take their next steps — into college, careers, and whatever big dreams they’re chasing. Our hope is simple: keep learning, keep dreaming, keep achieving. The future is yours.
And we didn’t forget our students who are still in school! We gave out prizes to celebrate how far they’ve already come and to cheer them on as they keep moving forward. Every step counts, and we’re so proud of each of you.
To every student we met today — thank you for inspiring us. We can’t wait to see where you go. 💙

CDIs are not a supplement to a hearing interpreter team. They are part of it. Hearing interpreters have a role in advocating for CDI inclusion — in scheduling, in agency conversations, and in how teams are built from the start. That work doesn’t fall on CDIs alone.

This month’s Teammate Spotlight is Brett Evans. We’re grateful to have him on the team.
What do you do?
I build systems that make work simpler for our employees, clients, and contractors — so we can all focus on what matters most: delivering great language services to the people who need them.
What are you most proud of?
My amazing wife and children! I am blessed to have a wonderful family and they make me proud every day!
What do you enjoy most about working here?
I enjoy working with incredible people who are passionate about providing language access to as many people as possible. The people and relationships are always the most important thing and they are what make ASL Communication a fabulous place to work!

Feed preferences matter, and assuming you know what your CDI partner needs is where a lot of teams go wrong. Ask, communicate, and check in before the assignment. The best CDI/HI teams are built on real coordination, not assumptions made in the hallway five minutes before you walk in.

One of the clearest themes from our CDI Panel: preparation before the assignment is not optional. Knowing your CDI partner’s preferences, communication style, and feed needs ahead of time is part of the work — not a bonus. It changes everything once you’re in the room.

Last week we wrapped up our CDI Panel: Building Collaborative Interpreter Teams with over 75 attendees and a conversation that felt long overdue. Thank you to Carmela Roybal, Adam Janisieski, and Shelly Freed for bringing such candor and depth to the room. The field is better for it.
And as you can tell, we got so involved in the discussion we forgot to pause for a picture, so enjoy the candid moment!

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Monica Dietz, a cherished member of the ASL Communication family for four years.
Monica wore many hats during her time with us — she served as a scheduler and head of operations, and played a meaningful role in training some of the team members we work alongside today. Her impact is still felt in our work every day.
She leaves behind her husband and three young children. If you feel moved to honor her memory, please consider supporting her family through the GoFundMe link below. Every contribution goes directly to the loved ones she left behind.

Over the past two years, we have been nurturing a vibrant culture rooted in LOVE- Leadership, Open Communication, Values, and Empathy, where every individual - be it employees or customers - feels seen, heard, and valued, so you can imagine my excitement finding this book at the airport today!!

To every interpreter out there. The ones showing up for early morning assignments, navigating complex and high-stakes settings, and advocating for equality every step of the way.
Today we celebrate you!
Your work creates access, connection, and equity in ways that are often unseen, and that deserves to be recognized. We see you, we appreciate you, and we’re proud to work alongside this community every day.
Happy National Interpreter Day!
