I enjoyed Facebook reminding me of a milestone day 10 yrs ago. We did the first test drives for customers of the Tesla Model S. I coordinated the ingress/egress of customers through multiple rows of cars (think about how oblivious people can be walking in between electric cars. We ran hundreds of test drives and there was some drama. I also rode in the backseat while the Governor of California drove one, directing him through or test loop. I could fill a book with some of these stories…

It was so long ago, I forgot this was a thing. I was recently looking at older Tesla Roadster pics and forgot the first batch of cars built got special plaques #1-27 got a founders plaque and 28-100 got a signature plaque. As the first technician/mechanic at Tesla and founding member of the Service Team, we signed this plaque. I found my laser engraved signature on the plaques. It made me smile to be reminded of this old memory. What was once a novelty is now part of history.

I had to take a break and park Maverick outside for some other work but it’s nice to see the growth. I am in the planning stages of building an amazing top much like the dark images you’ve seen on my website. I purposely didn’t share those designs because when I do, this thing is gonna go viral. Finally dropped the body of the onto the frame! Now I can check the fitment of all the new modifications: , tuned engine with my custom 7.3 designed . I’m on the home stretch to getting this thing roadworthy after months of development and design. This is has been a huge ordeal to get to this point, almost everything was . After I road test the chassis, the real fun begins: building the camper top and living space 🤘🏻

Saw a rare and super clean example of my first car, a 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme 4 door. Mine was white with a blue vinyl top. It was a rusty pile, bad muffler, cracked windshield, only 12 years old at the time but Maui is hard on vehicles. My dad traded an oak table to an antique dealer for it. Not many of these cars survived, I can’t recall ever seeing one this clean. It got me in so much trouble at 15, I lost my license for a few years so my dad sold it to . A lot of crazy memories I had in that car summer of ‘89.

My newish old daily driver, acquired from the original owner. It’s a solid rig, 190k miles, 4x4 and tow packages, got the prized 7.3 engine. All stock all original, the interior is in excellent shape, look at the factory alarm fob. These trucks were call because they were the last ones before Ford split the line between F150 and Superduty. Eventually this baby will get a some upgrades, like newer axles, suspension from , lift etc. It will also get a bigger turbo and injectors like the van and a tune to double the power. Might even build a custom overland camper sometime for it. For now, it’s my commuter and it gets 18 mpg!
