WEIRD HiFi
WEIRD HiFi (formerly Randall K) blends pop culture, art, fashion, and high-end audio inspired by exotic car couture.
Each piece is handcrafted, delivering unique, fully functional audio art unlike anything else.
The passive radiator jig is finally complete!
This was one of those milestones that feels great to finish… right up until you realize the next step involves putting a router to a cabinet that has already consumed countless hours of work.
The jig is built, tested, and ready to go. Now comes the part I’ve been dreading: cutting the large openings for the dual side-firing passive radiators. One mistake here means a lot more than filling a hole and trying again.
In this video, I walk through the completed jig, why I designed it the way I did, and what’s next as this 3-way loudspeaker project continues to take shape.
Next up:
• Routering the passive radiator openings
• Building the beauty rings
• Finishing the side panels for the upper enclosure
• Moving one step closer to final assembly

Progress continues on the midbass cabinets and they are finally starting to look like real loudspeakers instead of a pile of MDF and clamps.
The curved sidewalls, layered top caps, and extensive internal bracing are all coming together exactly how I envisioned. A ton of sanding, shaping, and detail work still ahead, but seeing the proportions and overall form finally emerge makes the long nights in the workshop worth it.
Most importantly, the ScanSpeak Classic 18W’s officially now have a place to call home.
Next step is final cabinet prep while work continues on the upper midrange / tweeter enclosures
After a lot of measuring, adjusting, refining, and rebuilding templates, The Arbiter’s top midrange and tweeter enclosure is finally ready for fabrication.
This stage of the build ended up being more involved than it may appear on camera. Every template had to account for driver spacing, enclosure geometry, acoustic considerations, and how the upper enclosure visually integrates with the rest of the Creature.
In this update, I walk through the progress made, some of the challenges along the way, and what comes next as fabrication officially begins.
The Arbiter continues evolving one piece at a time.

Initial sanding is complete on the Arbiter midbass cabinets and the vision is finally starting to come together.
A lot of time went into refining the curves, transitions, and overall flow of the cabinets while also continuing work on the top caps. Also sharing a little peek inside at the finished cross bracing design, which became far more involved than originally planned in order to maximize rigidity and control interaction between the drivers and passive radiators.
Next up is starting construction on the top midrange and tweeter cabinets, which should really begin defining the final personality of these Creatures.

In this WEIRD HiFi update, I walk through some extremely sketchy router work that had to be done on The Arbiter midbass cabinets. 😅
Some cuts are straightforward… these were not.
I also show the progress being made on the painted top caps along with the early stages of the upper midrange and tweeter enclosure development. This part of the project is where the loudspeaker really starts to evolve from a concept into a Creature.
Every part of this build is being hand made, adjusted, tested, and refined in real time with a huge focus on craftsmanship, acoustic performance, and industrial design.
