Happy Mother’s Day! Let a mother figure in your life know that they are loved and appreciated today and every day.

Sometimes you meet people for a reason. Sometimes you only get a limited time to help them A few months ago I posted as I had been helping secure their future for if this day ever came. We had no idea it would be so soon. Roger was a blessing to have as a client and friend and so is his wife. We had lots of good conversation from goose hunting to golfing. I made it a point to stop and catch up on April 24th. He was in good spirits and we talked about the weather and golfing. I’m blessed to have known him even if it was for a short time. Please take just a few seconds out of you day and send his wife some thoughts and or prayers. I’m sure she would appreciate that and him to.

• Install smoke alarms on every level of your home. Be sure to position them near or in bedrooms, as well as in rooms with appliances like the kitchen and laundry room.
• Test alarms monthly, and replace the batteries annually.
• Always stay near appliances when cooking, and don’t leave your home until you have finished.
• Install carbon monoxide and natural gas detectors.
• Keep matches, lighters, and flammable liquids out of reach of children.
• Do a run-through before you leave your home. Make sure all cooking appliances are off, unplug small devices like curling irons, and turn off candles or diffusers.
• Store flammable decor, possessions, and liquids like propane and cooking oil at least three feet away from heat sources.
• Make a fire escape plan. Ensure all bedrooms and common areas have access to the outdoors.
