Bill states "I am truly humbled. I am just a guy with an idea and the ambition to bring this dream to reality. It's the donors, volunteers, and supporters who make serving the disabled veterans possible."
Thank you so much for supporting our cause!

π€Not many of you will appreciate this, but the mailman brought 11 POUNDS of scrap (fusible) glass recently!π THAT'S A LOT OF GLASS!!!
This is a goldmine to me for creating! ππ Some of these larger glass scrap pieces look like gorgeous stones, so I may put those in the rock tumbler.
Last night I put them in the kiln to anneal, so they're "stable" when I use them for fusing. These are going to be fun pieces to work with and make some amazing glass art!

Glass is quite amazing! There are so many things to do with it, or do to it! That's why I feel it's important, as a glass artist, to experiment...a lot!
The technique used to make these two things is called Freeze & Fuse. Using powdered glass, similar to the consistency of powdered sugar, and water, mixed together & tamped down in a silicone mold is the beginning of making these. The next step is placing the filled silicone mold in the freezer & leaving them until they're frozen solid, like an ice cube. Having a kiln shelf ready as the shapes are carefully un-molded and gently placed on the kiln shelf. Off to the kiln for a firing to fuse it to its' permanent shape.
Voila! These are the finished pieces!π
It's amazing how sturdy these are before firing. The winged heart is very tiny, and I had my doubts if I would be able to get it out of the mold without breaking it.
I have a ton of silicone molds just waiting to be used! Watch for future experiments & projects!

a little late to the party...but wanted to wish those of you that celebrate it, Happy Valentine's Day!

ππ©·Fused glass Christmas Ornament, or pendant! One for each Christmas, like a growth chart.
Kiddos, grandkids, pets, wedding, anniversary, special event!
This ornament was created using a transfer printed with iron oxide, it provides a forever print fused into the glass. For a photo in color, a laser transfer is an option, it's not forever like the iron oxide transfer, but is very durable.

Challenge, you say? Challenge accepted!π
Years ago I was a member of a yahoo glass group that was for learning about fusing glass. We had monthly challenges, which was fun, and educational, usually pushing us to try something outside the box!
This piece was my entry, winning either 1st or 2nd place. The learning part of it, was to see how black vs white glass behaved in the kiln.
Stacks of black and white glass where sat next to each other on top of a fiberboard that had holes thru it. Once the glass was melted enough it flowed down thru the holes in thefiberboard.
π©·I love how the glass dripped down and puddled onto the kiln shelf.
Different colors; and transparent class vs opaque class can & do react differently in the kiln.

π‘βοΈ π©· πΈ ...a nifty idea I came up with years ago, a solar light "lampshade!"
It started out as an accent to the patio table, but I realized as the weather got cold, it needed to be inside. So it came to have it's own place in the house, in a window. I switched out the posies for a houseplant, dual purpose. Now it shines brightly every day, not only being something pretty, but a little added light each evening as it gets dark so early here. It's also very beneficial when the power goes out, making getting around in the house a bit easier!
These can be customized with different designs, colors, etc.
