Happy Valentines Day from our Crosskey Team! @ 750 Main St
Crosskey Architects, LLC creates architecture that inspires people and transforms neighborhoods.

Yesterday some of our team had the amazing opportunity to team up with and assist with their kidsâ summer camp at Strawberry Hill in Stamford! Working in groups, our Architects assisted in the recreation of the Sydney Opera House and help provide insight and advice on how to make the best structures possible. The kids have also been busy recreating the Stamford skyline and different types of greenspaces using various materials. We love spending our days fostering the next generation of architects!

Another special feature of this camp is where it takes place! The C.J. Starr barn, where all the activities take place was built in 1860. It is also on the National Registry of Historic Places and this year won the Connecticut Preservation Award!

Earlier this week we had the great honor of accepting the AIA Connecticut's Elizabeth Mills Brown Award's Merit Award for our work on the Joseph R. Ensign House. We are all so excited about this achievement which could not have been possible without the collaboration of our friends at Acorn Consulting Engineers, James K. Grant Associates, Loureiro, LLC, Prescott Construction, and the CT State Historic Preservation Office, thank you all!

Happy Halloween! In the spirit of the season we took a dive into our files to find the spookiest photos we've taken over the years. Comment your pick for spookiest below!

Yesterday was a great Fall day for a ground breaking ceremony with mayor Dan Champagne, members of the Town Council, our partner, Bob Hurd of The Architects and Zlotnick Construction. Working together with Bob we are proud to assist with the revitalization of the Citizens Block building in the Center of Rockville.

On September 19th a tour took place of one of our current projects, Willow Creek, a redevelopment of the Bowles Park in the Blue Hills neighborhood of Hartford. Together with Viking Construction and Steven Winter Associates, our own Michael Weissbrod hosted the tour. The project is currently in Phase III and was an exciting opportunity for many to see the progress made, as well as looking forward to the future of its completion. Willow Creek is on track to becoming PHIUS(passive house institute US)certified which is a trending standard in green building. Our goal of the tour was to educate those who attended about passive house design and new construction techniques. This event was a great opportunity for us to spend some time with our friends at Overlook Condominium Association, Hartford Housing Authority, Steven Winter Associates Inc, Fuss & O'Neill, Cirrus Structural Engineering Viking Construction, Inc., Connecticut Green Building Council and Acorn Consulting and Inspection, LLC.

Cheers! đ„

Our only weekend goal is to end up on the amazing rooftop at in downtown Hartford. What are yours?

Preservation means jobs!
Crosskey Architects was on-site this morning at the Windsor Locks Train Station to review brick, mortar and brownstone mock-ups with Armani Restoration Inc. and CT State Historic Preservation Office!
Taking time to understand the existing conditions and properties of the original materials is key to selecting the best possible match for repair or replacement. This project is being funded in part with a matching grant from Connecticutâs Historic Restoration Fund (HRF). HRF grants are funded by the Community Investment Act (also known as Public Act 05-228), which was signed into law on July 11, 2005. The Act provides increased funding for historic preservation as well as open space, farmland preservation, and affordable housing.
Downtown Windsor Locks and Main Street are uniquely sited parallel to the Amtrak line, the historic Windsor Locks Canal, and the Connecticut River. The J.R. Montgomery Mill, which is also under construction, will soon be bustling with activity.
Our meeting this morning was a great way to start the week. Sunshine and warm air certainly help make Mondayâs a bit more chipper! âșïž

Construction on the J.R. Montgomery Mill has begun...
With Lots Of Love. . .
With construction scheduled to begin shortly on the J.R. Montgomery Mill, we wanted to share a vintage postcard and its personal message. Congrats to Beacon Communities LLC, Fuss & O'Neill , and a laundry list of others that worked tirelessly to overcome obstacles to develop the deteriorated and vacant buildings to 160 residential units on the banks of the CT River.
