An architect expressing his creativity through the medium of metal and wood!

Hello all, You missed me didn’t you…. 😉😊

I’ll be honest…..this page has been frustrating me. Couldn’t really put my finger on why until just recently. Let me explain:

A friend, who has had a tremendous impact on me over the last 5+ years, sent me a draft of her new book and asked me to share thoughts about it on my social media as part of her book launch program. Her book is called the Just Start Theory.

I never thought it would impact me like it did…..and I’m not even through the first half of the book.

So how does this all tie back to my page and work?
The book reminded me that each step, no matter how small, is a step toward the goal. And nothing is ever going to be perfect! So y’all are in for a bunch of content coming up in 2026. I’m going to Just Start and keep moving forward.

I highly recommend her book…..digital version available now via Draft2Digital. Paperback copies are scheduled to be available Dec 15.
Get it. Read it. Live the !!

I think I found a new way to work!

The Big Idea - Part 1:
As many of you have seen, I obtained some teak decking from the USS New Jersey. When I found access to the material, the first thought was how do I use it as a tribute....to make a difference to those who served.

God Bless all of you that served!! Thank you.

So my big idea: The US Navy used to issue a knife to all sailors (not sure if they still do or not...maybe someone can confirm).. Thanks to the internet, I was able to find drawings and pictures of the knife that was issued prior to and thru WWII. It was made during arguably the most cohesive time in our history. While possibly crudely made, they served the purpose. The knife had a stacked rubber handle and a blade with zero shine.
The USS New Jersey was very active during WWII. That decking I purchased.......It was there!
So....

What if.......

USS New Jersey BB62
Battleship New Jersey
Cracked Anvil Forge

So the baseball season has slowed time in the shop.....BUT.....I did manage a few projects.
This one was a long time in the making, and now that the gift has been given, I can share it with you all.
From crazy concept with a piece of badly warped Olivewood to a finished board.
The client reached out requesting a board. I put the concept together and sent it for approval. Then it was time to do the work.
It turned out beautifully.....I kinda hated giving it up! But it's in a good home!

Another fun project completed! This time for my son.
Made the Reds “C” years ago. And just finished the mini bat shelf/display.
He loves it…….and now needs to visit some different stadiums for more bats!

Need something custom like this? Let’s chat!

It has a better effect in person…..but from the “How’d he do that?” Category….the ole block within a block. Cut from a single 3-1/2” square block…..
A fun little project that is less than fun to sand!
Enjoy!

Fun with the lathe! It’s very addictive!

My first venture into turning a bowl. As you can see, it was a success! Mmmmm…jelly beans!
