In partnership with state and federal government, we serve residents through our Outreach Centers and Head Start Centers in the 10-county region of Cass, Crawford, Fremont, Harrison, Mills, Monona, Montgomery, Page, Pottawattamie, and Shelby.

As part of the Iowa United Methodist Bishop’s Ingathering held each November, cash gifts are received to be used as Hunger Grants for the eight United Methodist districts in Iowa. These grants are utilized in combating hunger in local communities through food pantries, feeding programs, community gardens, etc. Churches may apply for a grant to fund a program that they themselves administer, or a church may pass an application on to a local community agency that addresses hunger. Sponsoring church for the application for the Hunger Grant received by West Central Community Action Shelby County Food Pantry was the Kirkman United Methodist Church. The Hunger Grant award was $312. Assistant/Associate Teachers interact with children, provide a variety of developmentally appropriate materials and activities while actively participating in the teaching team.

Candidates must have the ability to work with children and families from various cultural, economic & social backgrounds. Prefer AA/AS degree in Early Childhood or BA/BS, will consider High School/GED candidates.

One year experience working with preschool children, valid driver’s license, dependable transportation and auto liability insurance is required.

This full-time, 38-week per year position with benefits including health, dental and life insurance, vacation/sick pay, paid holidays, IPERS and 403(B) retirement programs. This position has a starting rate between $11.00 and $16.00. This position may be eligible for the federal loan forgiveness program.

WCCA seeks a Family Advocate for the Council Bluffs Head Start Program. Duties of this position include planning, implementing, recruiting enrolling, giving orientations then assisting age/income eligible children/families in educational goal setting, strengthening families by assessing, working with and referring to other programs or agencies and advocating for families toward self-reliance. Family Advocate’s must enjoy working with families from various cultural, economic, social backgrounds.

1 year’s relevant experience, valid driver’s license and auto liability insurance are required. Prefer candidates with Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling, Family Services, Human Services, or Social Work.

Family Advocates must be excellent communicators, have dependable transportation, ability to maintain accurate/confidential files and records, good organizational, case management and record keeping skills.

This is a 40-hour per week, year-round position that offers group health, dental, & life insurance plans, vacation, sick, & holiday pay, IPERS and 403(b) retirement programs. The starting rate for these positions are between $14.50 and $17.00 an hour and may be eligible for the federal student loan forgiveness program.

Teachers direct daily educational activities, and coordinates/approves all center activities. Responsible for exhibiting good communication, problem solving, and overall positive attitude, providing for the care and development of ten children. Will plan and implement curriculum and provide support to parents.

AA/AS in Early Childhood Education, prefer BA/BS, and one year’s Pre-K teaching experience are required for this position. This position starts between $14.50 and $19.51 an hour.

Valid driver’s license, dependable transcription and auto liability insurance are required. Benefits include health, dental, life, holiday/vacation/sick pay, IPERS, and 403(B) retirement programs.
