American Legion Department Of Vermont

Please pass this along to all Legion Riders that you know.

It is once again time for the Department of Vermont American Legion Riders to elect their Department Officers for the coming year at our Winter Meeting on Saturday March 13, 2021 at 10:00 AM. Due to Covid restrictions, we will need to hold this Winter Meeting via Zoom. While we do have some officers willing to retain/run for their current offices, all offices will be open to nominations. We will be electing a Director, Assistant Director, Secretary, Treasurer, Safety Officer, Road Captain, Sgt.-at-Arms and 1 Representative for each of the 5 Districts.

Nominations will be opened at the meeting and will remain open until the election is held. If anyone would like to be nominated, but cannot make the meeting, feel free to email me - Director Lou Furry at [email protected] and I will gladly enter your name into nominations at the meeting.

I would like to thank the officers who have served The American Legion Riders at the Department level, some since day 1. Your commitment to the organization is to be commended, no matter how long you’ve served. It is much appreciated and you have my gratitude for your efforts.

I hope to see as many Riders as possible logged into this meeting, exercising your right to have a voice in your Department Leadership. Be sure to coordinate with any other attendees from your Chapter, as all Chapters will need to have 1 delegate to cast their vote for them for each office in keeping with our “One Chapter – One Vote” policy, per our Bylaws.

Looking forward to connecting with a bunch of Riders at the meeting. Contact Lou for Zoom information.

Lou Furry

The Legion erected the new monument Memorial Day in remembrance of our communities fallen service members!

Stopped today. Such a senseless loss.

With President Trump’s signature on the LEGION Act, the extension of the ongoing declared period of war was extended back to Dec. 7, 1941. The congressionally approved act is a way to honor thousands of veterans who were killed or wounded on duty during periods not previously considered a time of war.
