DEEP THOUGHTS (PSA) – It seems like all we read and hear about is bad news and we have become immune or desensitized to it, but beware! I have to credit Michael Smirconish for giving me this idea and wanting to share it. This week is the 30th anniversary of the Tianamen Square Massacre (June 4th) and the 75th anniversary of D-Day (June 6th) yet such remembrances are fading from memory as people are more concerned with parsing individual words from our current political leaders to normalize bad behavior on BOTH sides of the aisle, or worse still, thinking that the run of a game show contestant is newsworthy. I am just as much to blame for not giving as much notice to the mass shooting in Virginia Beach, as if the senseless death of 12 people is no longer shocking enough. The media and our political leaders forgot about this incident almost immediately because we seem to have resigned ourselves to accepting mass shootings as a part of our daily routine. I am not looking to spark a debate on gun control (another topic for another day) but we need to remember that unless we recognize and call out injustice and tragedy, we normalize it. Please remain vigilant in how we look at the news and events, seek out truth regardless of party affiliation and speak up when you see something wrong happening right in front of you.

As we get set to celebrate Memorial Day with family and friends, let's not lose sight that it is also a solemn day to give thanks and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service of our freedom and security. WACKY WEDNESDAYS! I don't like talking politics but this just story just blew my mind. I don't know what's worse, when the Secretary of HUD doesn't know what an REO is (I mean, they are just the assets that his department oversees) or that he thought it was appropriate to minimize his lack of knowledge via a Twitter joke.

Dr. Carson is a brilliant man, quite literally a brain surgeon, but giving him a cabinet position over Housing and Urban Development, a subject he clearly knows nothing about, is like putting a scalpel in my hand and thinking I'm a doctor.

The moral of this sad story it to ALWAYS work with a real estate professional, especially a real estate attorney who understands this area of law and can guide you as you work with your Realtor, your mortgage lender, insurance agent, etc. You wouldn't go see a dermatologist if you needed heart surgery just because they have an MD, so don't think that all lawyers are the same.
