Bonaire Final sign-up October 17th | Sports Unlimited

Congratulations to Tony Deas, co-owner of Sports Unlimited Inc., for his win in the Louisiana CCA Star Tournament, Speckled Trout category for the Eastern division. With over 15,000 total entrants, Tony's 6.67# trout won for the area that includes the Chandelier Islands, marsh east of the Mississippi River and Breton Sound islands. He wins a 19' Nautic Star Bay boat, motor and trailer. Congratulations!!

Just completed 2nd check trip this year for the newly certified divers which also allowed our two new assistant instructor students to get plenty of practice . Unfortunately weather prevented us for diving in the gulf but we got it done in Vortex Springs. Congrats to all.

Just a quick note to let everyone know we are open during these tough times, practicing social distancing, using gallons of sanitizer, and even getting to make a quick fishing trip on two. The fishing is fantastic from trout at the islands, trout along the coast and even Tuna offshore. All is good out there! We are also adding a new line of soft baits, the Slick lure that has been the go to bait for trout at the islands. Our dive operation is on standby right now with no place to do the pool training, but current classes are doing the on line work and being patient. The checkout trip scheduled for May is highly doubtful but the Cayman trip is still on schedule for June

Redfish in the Big Lake Area | Sports Unlimited

There are several huge schools of redfish in the Big Lake area near Popp’s Ferry Bridge and Bayou Bernard intersection. These schools are in the 20” range and were caught on Berkley Chopper 90.

A three man limit of trout like this at Cat Island on Jan 28th by 9:00am. Not a single trout under 15" was caught. The big trout are at Cat! Caught on Yo-Zuri L minnow and "c**k of the walk" cocahoes.

Some really great news on the Cayman trip! We have been waiting for the DEMA (Dive Equipment Manufacturing Association) show to happen because most dive resorts put on really good deals at this show. This year was no exception. The original base price for Little Cayman was $2000.00, but lunch and nitrox was extra. DEMA special is now $2100.00 BUT that includes lunch and nitrox so that is $250.00 savings.

Scubapro sale on the Heads Up Display (HUD) and G2 dive computers. A great savings. Good through February 2020.

Just completed our final checkout dive for 2019. I can't say the conditions we perfect, but we got the job done and returned with four new divers. Congratulations to Rosemary Le Compte, Jerald Verdin, Bernard Keenum, and Allen Medlock on their scudessful open water certification!

We will make the final dive trip to Panama City Beach on November 15th thru the 16th. Contact us to insure space on the boat.

As the 2019 scuba diving season draws to a close, we would like to remind everyone of our two exotic dive trips next year. We have several spots left on our Cayman trip in May/June. This has always been my personal favorite location in the Caribbean! Our trip to the Philippines in Oct/Nov has been sold out, but two of our travelers have had to drop because of time conflicts and this has opened up a couple of spots. Just completed out first checkout trip of the year! Panama City Beach suffered some from the hurricane last year, but it general is in pretty good shape. Dive boats are running and the jetties are operational. St Andrews Park is missing the gazebos but the tables are in good shape and the dive area its self is in great condition. PCDC still has all three dive boats operational and while some of the dive sites are a little worse for the ware (Black Bart is missing the top deck area) the sites are still there. All students completed their requirements and came home certified Open Water Nitrox divers! CONGRATULATIONS!!!
The next class is starting immediately so if you are thinking about diving, now is a good time.

If anyone is interested in buoyancy compensators, either new or used, we will be selling some at really reduced prices. We have taken several BC’s in on trade and we also have a few new Scubapro BC’s that have had recent model changes that we will be selling for up to 40% off.
