It was a beautiful day to get back out to the Grand Lake, OK, Bald Eagle's nest. I don't know about you, but it seems to me that these two hulking chicks are now really not that long for this nest. I hope maybe I get one more chance to see their first mini flights (called branching) and then some real take offs. Enjoy, RC. For the photo nerds out there it is called "Dragging the shutter". You shoot at a slow shutter speed, and count on the rear curtain flash to create some sharp outlines at the end of the exposure. Sometimes it can create interesting motion trails, and sometimes it can create a dreamy, sort of ghosting effect. I Have to admit that as a wildlife photographer on Grand Lake, OK, very few things can beat sitting around on a lovely spring morning and watching the bald eagles in their nest. And how 'bout some of those huge bites mama eagle was feeding them? No wonder they are growing so fast. Enjoy, RC

I dropped by the Regatta today, and found that they had some new carvings dotting the property. And of course, the water feature was looking great as always. Seems they are springing right into spring. Enjoy, RC

After Hundreds of hours photographing Bald Eagles, this is the most comical example of shoddy flying that I have ever seen. Therefore, I must conclude that it could only happen between a mated pair like these. The female is on the right, and her expression at the end of her mate's piloting blunder, pretty much says it all. Enjoy, RC

There was plenty of action around the nest today. The chicks have grown just enough that they are visible when the parents feed them. It was a great day for sunshine and Eagles. Enjoy, RC

Avocets show up on Grand Lake, OK, every now and then. When they do, I always enjoy their unusual shapes & colors.
