Har-Ber Village Museum celebrates the bygone era of pioneer life in Oklahoma. There are no words to describe the feeling that overcomes you as you drive into the grounds at Har-Ber Village Museum and walk the paths through the Village.

The new dye garden was planted by the Living History cabin Saturday. Dye plants in the beds include madder, coreopsis, marigolds, and Japanese indigo. We will be collecting materials and periodically doing dye demonstrations on advertised Saturdays throughout the season.

Sat May 21st, the programs staff will be planting the new dye garden at the living history cabin, Bldg #17. Come dodge the raindrops and learn about the plants that were grown on the homesteads to create the colorful dyes for their woven and knitted goods. You may be surprised to learn that you have dye plants on your property as well.
The programs department would like to start having demos on Saturdays when able. If you are interested in helping, please contact us! We are so happy to have you whenever you come to visit. Also, we will be having our annual Pioneer Days this fall and we hope you join us for an amazing day! We hope to have all our hands on stations open and we need helping hands to get it done. We will be making three different types of delicious treats! Lemon Ice, Ice Cream, as well as Sherbet.
Class starts at 9am and concludes at Noon. We do have a limit of 15 people for this class so come grab your tickets as soon as you can!! The cost per person is $15.00. Not only will you be making the frozen treats you will get to taste as you go as well as take home recipes! We look forward to seeing you and welcoming you to our class as well as many more to come!
Due to last night’s storm a number of our living historians suffered water damage and will be leaving this morning. We still will have some demonstrations this morning, and the working exhibits in the Village will be staffed as well. It appears the next round of storms will be moving in early afternoon, at which time most of the demonstrators will pull out, but they will be here up until then.
Some of our Rendezvous volunteers will be leaving tomorrow morning due to storm damage to their homes. Additionally, we will be monitoring the weather, as the chance for rain has increased. We will post updates on the event Sun morning.
The rendezvous people are beginning to set up for the COHT gathering at Har-Ber Village this Friday through Sun. They will demonstrate the lifestyles and daily activities of our ancestors from the period 1600-1830. Demonstrations will include tinsmithing, fur trapping and processing, cooking, beading, needlework, tomahawk throws, and more. There will be traders open for visitors to purchase items related to the period as well. The camps will be open Fri and Sat 9am to 3:30 pm, and Sun 9am to 2pm. The working exhibits in the Village will also be open as well, giving a view of the past up through the 1800s. Come visit and step back in time for a magical journey.
May 13, 14, &15, come join us at Har-Ber Village as the Coalition of Historical Trekkers set up camp on the Village grounds. The COHT will be presenting the period 1600-1830, with at least 15 camps showing the way people lived. On display will be fur trappers, tinsmith, beaders, seamstresses, a Native American Lodge, gunsmith, traders, tomahawk throw, and more. All of the working exhibits in the Village will also be staffed, including weaving, spinning, printing, broom making, carpenter, and blacksmith. Step back in time and enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells of the past on our beautiful Village grounds.

Join us May 7, 2022 for a Dutch oven cooking workshop from 9am to 2pm in our Living History Cabin. Participants will help prepare a number of dishes that will be cooked in cast iron vessels on the hearth, then taste the results at the conclusion of the workshop. Information will also be shared on how to identify antique/collectible cast iron, as well as how to restore and use those pieces. Workshop is limited to 8, and cost is $40 per person. The Grove Block Party returns to downtown Grove, OK next Friday, May 6th with musical guest Chloe Goff.
Unfortunately due to the inclement weather conditions, the Artillery Groups and Infantry Groups have pulled stakes and left the Village. For the safety of the Re-Enactors and their equipment Re-enactments have been cancelled for today. We are sorry if this affects your plans. We still have many of the indoors demonstrations going on.
It’s going to be a day full of fun, history, re-enactments, and dancing! Today, Saturday April 23rd come out to Har-Ber Village Museum and enjoy Civil War Era Historical Days! Open 9am to 3:30pm, with Re-Enactments at 11am, 1pm, and 2:30. Come back and join us at 7pm for the Civil War Ball. Come dressed or in your own duds and enjoy the sounds of the time while learning the traditional dances from a Caller! Too many things to mention!

There are still a few spots open for our Sausage Workshop on April 30th. This workshop will teach students how to make their own sausage at home, cheaper than buying it in the store. Other bonuses to making your own are controlling sodium and preservatives, as well as knowing exactly what cuts of meat are used in your sausage. Class is 9am to 1pm and is $30 per person.

First Soap Making Workshop of the year in the books! Thanks to those that came out and attended!
Are you tired of buying sausage and throwing 1/3 of it away in excess grease? Have issues with the high sodium content? Wonder what cuts of meat are in it? Har-Ber Village Museum will host a sausage making workshop on Apr 30, 2022 that will teach how to make sausage at home and avoid all those issues, as well as yield sausage at less than half the cost. Participants will help prepare 4 different types of sausage, and taste cooked samples. Workshop packets will contain recipes and sources for sausage making ingredients and equipment. Space is limited to 12, and is $30 per person. Workshop will run 9am to 1pm. To reserve space, call 918-786-6446.
There are still a few spots left for the Lye Soap Workshop at Har-Ber Village on Apr 2nd. This workshop teaches participants how to make soap at home using easily obtainable ingredients, without fillers, chemical additives, scents or colors. Have you ever thought about making your own soap? Saturday Apr 2nd, we will hold our first workshop of the season, teaching how to make homemade soap. Making soap was a practice our ancestors used to make use of materials that we normally throw away now. Participants will learn the history of soap making, prepare 2 batches of soap, and take home a bar of plain soap and a bar of oatmeal soap. Included in the workshop will be recipes for basic soap, as well as recipes to make your own laundry soap. Workshop is 9am to 1pm, and cost is $25 per person. Unfortunately, due to the severe weather Har-Ber Village Museum will delay opening for a day. Due to the terrain inside the Village and freezing overnight temperatures we will err on the side of caution and close tomorrow, March 12th, 2022. We will open Sunday March 13th with all scheduled Living History demonstrations. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
Our weaving and spinning exhibit received a facelift for the season opening. Staff and volunteers cleaned, painted, and rearranged the equipment and artifacts for a fresher look and easier access. We invite you to visit this season and talk with our talented weavers or take a workshop and learn to weave.
