Call 918-786-8950 and leave the message that you want to pick out a hat!!

This will be a fun event. If you think you are not a writer, think again. If you have ever wanted to tell a story...let the hat tell it for you.

THE PLAYMAKERS WANT TO HEAR WHAT YOUR HAT HAS TO SAY!!
"Nuns" in rehearsal wearing hats from The Playmakers' Hat Project...Nancy Flowers, Tonya Rudick, and Vicki King.
PLAYMAKERS’ HAT PROJECT
Wide range of ages may participate.

WRITERS: Come pick out a hat(s) from the Playmakers inventory on THURS, APR 28. Choose one of the times: 12:00- noon till 2:00 pm OR 5:30 till 7:00 pm. We will take a picture of the hat and you for our files, and you can take pics of the hats you choose. They will remain in the building, however.
OTHER CREATIVES: Help us plan the event described below. It’s still in the “brain-storming” phase!! so ideas welcome. Txt the artistic executive at 918 964 9939
MODELS: Let us know if you are interested in “walking” or “performing” on the runway” as a model of one or more hats. Again, txt the artistic executive at 918 964 9939.
We will need to match the clothing with the hat… either from the model’s wardrobe or The Playmakers collection of clothing and costumes.

The Title: The Stories We Wear is the general title for a new program, maybe more. Suzanne Boles stole the title from an exhibit at The University of Pennsylvania’s Museum where her great niece works. https://www.penn.museum/on-view/galleries-exhibitions/the-stories-we-wear
The Idea: Start with the beautiful Hats in our costume inventory –some vintage--that are rarely used in productions. Costume hats may be included. The clothing will be chosen to go with the hat, not the opposite.
Volunteers will write a short story (a long paragraph) from the point of view of a hat from our collection (in 1st person singular… the hat is telling the story). Help plan a Fancy Tea event where the hats are modeled by the writer or others, and may be sold, or may be rented for special events.
The goal: Get women to begin wearing hats in Grove again… and not just ball caps!!. Some young women are already wearing hats, even men’s hats. Visitors at events might rent a hat to wear while in Grove and we might become the “town where all the women wear hats.” Okay…so maybe, maybe not, but how much fun would it be?!
Secondary goal: Raise some funds for Playmakers and decrease the storage space demanded by these donated hats, which rarely are needed in a play.

THE PLAYMAKERS PRESENT THE “HARRY & SAM DIALOGUES”

Harry and Sam are old friends who like to ask each other the big questions about life and death. They use weird metaphors and analogies such as how mistakes are like the dunking of Ding-Dongs. To listen in on their very comedic dialogues, just come to one or more performances of this Playmakers’ production, at 121 W 3rd Street in Grove, OK
. It opens on March 25 and runs for seven more performances on March 26, 27, 31 and April 1, 3, 7, and 8.

One reviewer for Broadway World says: “Other topics in these comic dialogues range from "Who built the Pyramids?" to "Where is Jimmy Hoffa?" Harry complains that his wife says he talks too much and is too wrapped up, to which Sam replies "Like a gift?" "Why is reincarnation named after a flower? Is it because you are pushing up daisies?" "How can you believe in God and not Heaven?" And so goes the banter from one unrelated topic to the next, intellectually engaging the audience throughout the show.”

Don and Dave Simpson portray Harry and Sam in these dialogues by Karen Ellison that tell a funny yet thoughtful story of friendship and forgiveness with questions shrouded in indifference yet allowing each man to question the other without asserting his fears.

The Playmakers recommend this production for high school students and above due to adult concepts contained in the play. The adult price for the show is $15/person; the student price is $8. Evening performances on Fridays, Saturdays, and Thursdays are at 7:30 pm. Sunday matinees are at 2:00 pm.

Reservations are greatly recommended as comedies are popular in our area. They can be made by leaving a message at The Playmakers (918) 786 8950. Or send an email to [email protected].
In either case, a volunteer will contact you to confirm your reservation.

Community Theatre for the Grand Lake Area The VISION of The Playmakers is a community comprising people who choose a Playmaker production as their first choice for a night out; a community with audiences and participants that recognize, demand, and support theatre of high quality.

This assumes the importance of theatre, access to it, and the desire to experience it. It further assumes that the theatre experience is of high quality, worth the money, and enjoyable. Ticket prices for most shows are $8 for students and $15 for adults.

The Playmakers Present
The Harry and Sam Dialogues
By Karen Ellison
March 25, 26, 27, 31, April 1, 3, 7, 8, 2022.

Starring DON and DAVID SIMPSON

Harry and Sam are old friends who like to pass the time posing outlandish questions to one another. “If ya had the choice, would ya rather love a woman whose top half was a fish and whose bottom half was a woman or a woman whose top half was a woman and whose bottom half was a fish?” Harry asks. “Good question,” responds Sam. The questions are off the wall, but they slowly reveal the two men’s characters, and allow them to take stock of each other while avoiding mundane, but important, life matters. On the surface, The Harry and Sam Dialogues appear to be philosophical discussions between two blue-color types who are way out of their league, but their discussions are surprisingly lively. They use what they can from their own lives, like milk and Ding-Dongs, to make sense of what everything means. They discuss all the big questions: Is there life after death? How are men and women different? And, of course, if a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound?
