😊Today is NATIONAL ADOPT A SHELTER PET DAY!😊
It’s a beautiful day outside today and it would be an extra beautiful day if we had lots of folks come in to meet some of the many wonderful dogs and cats patiently waiting for homes.
If you’ve been thinking about adding a new dog or cat to your family, please stop by and meet some of the extra special dogs and cats that we have at our shelter.

If you need an official puddle inspector, come check out our handsome guy! Adoptions are sponsored (free) with an approved application!
This is your reminder to be Weather Aware!
Storms can cause pets to panic. Make sure your pets are safe. Always check for gates and fences blown open and down!
Severe threat increases mainly after 7 pm this evening. Lets keep our eyes on this. Here is all the details you need to know in my latest youtube video.

OUR STOLEN VAN WAS RECOVERED!
We are happy to report that the van which was stolen from our shelter has been recovered and seems to be in OK condition. What a huge relief.
However, the van is currently in Marlow, Oklahoma and we need to get it back here to Grove!
We are hoping to find a volunteer that is willing to drive the van back to us.
Please let us know if you are available to help even if you could only get the van part of the way; we could then post for another driver.

This position involves the care of dogs, cats, puppies and kittens. Tasks involved would be scooping, posing, scrubbing, rinsing and dry in kennels and cat cages. This is physical work that involves bending and lifting. Applicant should be prepared to be able to be on their feet for the entire shift and must be able to lift up to 50 pounds comfortably. Applicants should be comfortable working around a variety of dogs and cats.
Typical shifts are 7 AM to 1 or 2 PM. Days will vary depending on the spot that you are hired for, but we have people at the shelter every day of the week caring for the pets.
If you are interested, please stop by the shelter during regular business hours and fill out a job application.
We want to give a BIG shout-out to our regular volunteer dog walker, Mrs. Kim Safonov, for supplying all our shelter pets with tasty treats! Thank you again from the staff and animals at Second Chance!
Bye-bye, Mattie! We are so glad you did not have to stay for very long! Thank you for adopting with us Mr. Fair! Thank you to our sponsors for making this adoption possible for Mattie and her new family!!
Valerie O'Dell and "Conor" were made for each other! What a joyous pair! Thank you Valerie for adopting Conor, one of our Pointer pups. We are so grateful to see him go to such a happy and loving home! Thank you to our sponsors who pay for these adoptions so that they are free for the public for the month of April! We couldn't do it without you!
Ciara (pronounced "kee-rah"), one of the Pointer breed pups, went to her forever home with Mrs. Hull and family today! Thank you Mrs. Hull for adopting with us! We wish Ciara and your family all the best and more! Thank you to our sponsors for making this adoption free for Mrs. Hull and Ciara!
"Fionna", our 4 year old red-nosed pit who has been waiting for her forever home in our 'V.I.P. Lounge' at the shelter, has finally went to her forever home! Her new owner got to spend a good amount of time yesterday getting to know her. We felt that Fionna had found her perfect match! We are so happy for her, and thank you Carol Overbey for adopting with us and choosing sweet Fionna as the one you will love and provide for, forever! ❤

Thank you Richard and Beth Schafer for this wonderful donation!
Everyone might keep an eye open for our van.
IT WAS STOLEN YESTERDAY!
We have the thief on camera and know who it is. The sheriffs department is on the lookout for the van and the individual.
Bruiser has been waiting for his forever home for one year and seven months. 😔
That’s such a long time to be passed by…
Bruiser is a sweet guy who loves to get out and stretch his legs on a walk with his favorite humans.
He does seem to do ok with other dogs but is necessarily a fan of felines.
Bruiser would do best in a home with older kids…teens would be perfect. The “littles” seem to stress him out.
If you want to help Bruiser but can’t adopt, why not be his sponsor?
Sponsorship funds are critical for the continued success and operation of our shelter. Our doors stay open only through donations.
Please consider sponsoring Bruiser!
Sponsor Bruiser Bruiser is a recent transfer from an animal control facility, Hes very scare but we can tell hes really sweet!
🌺🌺FLOWER SALE STARTS THIS MORNING AT 9AM! 🌺🌺
🙁Cola has been waiting 411 days in the shelter. 🙁
At the shelter Cola doesn’t “show” well.
He barks at people. He runs outside and hides. People would actually think “he’s a mean dog.”
Cola is VERY sweet. The shelter is overwhelming to him. We knew he was amazing but look at this guy out of the shelter and in a foster home! ❤️
Cola is a long haired American Bulldog.
Cola is doing great in his temporary foster home, but needs to find a forever family.
He’s doing great with other dogs and seems to do well with cats. He thinks he’s a lap dog and wants to be really close to his favorite people.
If yli would like to meet Cola, give us a call at 918-786-7630 or shoot an email to [email protected] to set up a time. He’s amazing!
If you think that you would like to help a shelter dog by becoming a temporary foster, please reach out to us. You can make a huge difference in the life of one of our homeless pets and help them find their forever home.
Peaches has been waiting 235 days and is starting to get very kennel stressed and sad.
It’s hard to be an attention loving, social dog and be stuck in a kennel.
We do everything we can to keep the happy, but a shelter was never meant to be a home.
Peaches wants a family to love her…she deserves a family.
Peaches is about 7-9yrs old. She’s always so happy to see a leash; she knows that means she’s getting out for a walk and playtime.
Peaches came in with another dog and does ok with some but not all dogs. We think as an older gal she would like a home without extremely young kids; she might not wants the littles carrying on and running all around her.
She’s spayed, heartworm negative and current on everything. All you need to add for her to be complete is you, a home and love! ❤️❤️
Stop in and meet Peaches!
Found today near the Olympus Cemetery in Grove.
