Oakwood Meadows Farm

Comments

I know it's late in the season but I wanted to pop in and describe what I'm doing with the amazing Oakwood Meadows horses in case you or someone you know might be interested before I take the winter off.

An Equus coach session has the same goals as a regular coaching session – which is to help you be more yourself in all areas of their life. We bring a horse in to our work because horses live only in the present moment (they do not relive past events and try to understand them, nor do they project into the future and try to imagine or control an outcome) and horses respond authentically to what they see.

Horses give us feedback that helps us identify patterns that may be getting in our way, see opportunities to create greater clarity with ourselves and others, and gain insights into our deepest desires.

Horses show us where our boundaries are (or aren’t), if we are expressing our energy the way we think we are, and where we think we are leading but instead may be following. Horses mirror how we’re showing up in the moment, without words or innuendo, they simply show up and tell the truth of what they observe in our energy.

Equus coaching is all groundwork, there is no riding. Coaching is focused on the present and future, setting goals, and being more authentic in the world. Coaching takes a client’s current starting point as neutral ground and looks at where they want to improve or change things – and we use the nature of the horse to show us how we might change or improve the way we move through life.

You do not have to be a current non-Equus coaching client for us to work together in an Equus session, these can be one-off sessions as you need or want them.

While most of my work centers around having healthy boundaries, we can take advantage of the horse’s nature to work on many things in an Equus session, these may include:

• Identifying goals and implementing next steps
• Breaking down a project into manageable steps
• Gaining insight into relationship issues (business, personal, family, etc.)
• Preparing for transitions in life
• Figuring out where your boundaries are and how you can support them
• Getting unstuck in an area of your life where you’ve felt stuck

While I’m working on my certification hours, my rate is $40/hour, once I’m certified, my rates will be $150/hour. It’s a great time to take advantage of the weather and my great rates. My scheduling page is https://app.acuityscheduling.com/schedule.php?owner=17807162&appointmentType=category:Equus%20Coaching. Most sessions are running about 2.5 hours (probably because of the initial safety talk) so I would prefer you book for three hours and I’ll bill you for the time we use unless you need to make sure we keep it to two hours.

If you have any questions or want to learn more, you can email me at [email protected], I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Thank you!

Okay equine friends … this is what we currently have for board, lease & lessons :

Pasture board - we currently have 3 spots available. Mare or gelding. This pasture would do well with an easy going horse. We already have a “caretaker” herd boss, so a horse who likes to be led is preferred.

All boarding spots have the following amenities:
📌 24/7 access to shelter, hay (in summer months grass pasture too), fresh water (heated in the winter months), loose equine minerals & salt blocks
📌 Rotational well maintained pastures with 4 strands cotton electric fencing
📌 Private tack room with your own locker
📌 5 minutes from Pinckney staging area, all day dirt road riding & owner lives onsite for 24 hour care.

Riding lessons are still in full gear! 🎠
No age limit!

Lease options are still available! (On-Sight ONLY) horse is dependent on riding abilities. *Lessons FREE with lease*

An Amazing Article on Why Your Horse Should Not Be Blanketed - The Soul Of A Horse Blog

This is probably the best explanation I have ever read about the actual anatomy and how a horses body scientifically works.
It’s long but worth reading.

This is not a put down to those who blanket - there are lots of reasons you need to! I have done it my entire equestrian career until this year! So I get it.

But for those who don’t blanket their horse and maybe feel guilty, or those who are thinking about - this is so educational!

An Amazing Article on Why Your Horse Should Not Be Blanketed - The Soul Of A Horse Blog This is the best, all encompassing science on why horses should not be blanketed or groomed in winter, and should be fed free-choice grass hay 24/7. If you need a tree (free or not) look no further!!!

Thank you Schell Family Farm! ❤️
Your kindness never stops!

In the spirit of Christmas giving -
Although we closed last Sunday for the season we still have many beautiful trees we would like to give to families that may not have had a tree in their budget. It's been a difficult couple years on all of us! We hope this will bring a little joy and a little less stress to some families during these times. If you, or someone you know, is interested Chris will be at the farm 12pm-3pm on Saturday, December 18th only.

ETA - this post has received more attention than we would have ever imagined. It is first come, first serve and we will hand them out until our very last tree is taken - at this time we are not sure how long that will be. Also, please take only one per family to ensure as many families as possible can get one. Continue to follow us on Facebook and we will update everyone when/if we are out of trees.

Heaven gained one wonderful 🕊angel this weekend!

Tracy was THE backbone to the care of Marley. She had an infectious smile and the kind of giving heart that anyone would be in awe of. She truly was the most dedicated caretaker I have ever met - she poured her heart into each animals she took care of.

It is going to be so hard not having her any longer. But we will continue to rescue in honor of her 💔

So I’m am totally tossing out a plug for my sister and I don’t care! Don’t want to hear about it, move on 🤷🏻‍♀️

Lauren, I know you didn’t ask for this but I’m only speaking truth!

Top photo is yesterday after morning chores. 🥶 Cold 🥶 A 🥶 F! Bottom is today after morning chores. 🥶 Cold 🥶 A 🥶 F!

Why is my face not nearly as red ?!
Glad you asked! I don’t do the best job in the summer of taking care of my face. I wear a hat or let the dirt and sweat by my sunscreen 😳😱🤭🤦🏻‍♀️ I know …..
But everyone assumes it’s my tan and life lives on. In the winter time I NEVER HEAR THE END OF IT THOUGH! I get “why is your face so red” 🙄 CONSTANTLY!

Well KAREN (if I even feel like explaining this that is none of your business), I have eczema and rosacea. Plus a WHOLE lot of windburn from being outside a LOT. AND even IF my claustrophobic face could handle covering it up - it wouldn’t make a damn difference.

I can’t physically wear full coverage foundation for SO MANY reasons, but my sister found the best alternative!! Covers the red while actually taking care of my skin!!!! It’s expensive but not when you realize how long it lasts! Best part is that it takes moments! Not hours ❤️❤️ thank you sis for keeping me looking my best!! Want to know how to order ?!? Message me for her info because apparently I can’t tag her 🤬
