Speed Xcel
Speed Xcel is a speed training business focused on getting better each day.
Additional work from today!
And one more from today!
16.5 mph on Gear 3 SHREDmill tonight. We also had some peak power work, neuromuscular coordination work sand short gct plyometrics. Had another athlete go 21.5 mph with very light assistance! A good day and even better week.
Big things coming, facility is making progress but not complete. When finished outdoors we will have a 50 yard track for 1080 work and free sprints. Indoors we will have SHREDmill capability, velocity based training capability, and short accel capability.

Really proud of this guy! Jalen just ran 1.16 5-10 fly at college! That’s really fast and best out of rb’s at school. Work wins!

First PR for new client. Been working for a couple of weeks on horizontal force production. Added in a little velocity and she was able to increase her best by .4 mph. Proud of her work!

Here is a look over time at athlete's improvement. First is a look at average of Top speeds for the month at 2KG resistance, and next is Top speed hit that month. Consistent steady improvement, which highlights in April how to being fresh is necessary for speed improvements. Planning, consistency, and intent equal results!

Jalen’s last day before college! Came to me running 20.4 mph leaves running 22.3 mph. Great athlete even better kid! Look forward to seeing what’s next for him.
Another great session with this young man. One of the last couple before he heads off to college. Been such a pleasure working with him.
Talking with a parent yesterday, I was asked how do I get such great results so I thought I would give an in depth post on my philosophy and what we do. When looking at speed you have to prioritize what is important. There are a few factors that affect speed, mechanics, strength, power, mobility and neuromuscular coordination. Our approach is to prioritize what an athlete needs based on importance and a needs analysis through a force velocity profile and gate analysis. I will start by saying a lot of programs emphasize mechanics, and if that is what you are looking for that is not our number one priority. Sprint mechanics have the least impact on speed (Every track coach losing their mind). Of course there are outliers with things or flaws that may have to be emphasized based on an individual but based as a whole oftentimes it is underlying physical qualities that are impacting them. That doesn’t mean we never look at mechanics or drill them at times, just that it is not the primary emphasis. Now that is out of the way, what we do is this. We analyze athletes using force velocity profile to determine the needs based on certain metrics, those metrics are then prioritized, and a training plan is built to attack those metrics that need improvement, so those qualities will be emphasized. Athletes will always be exposed in the program to acceleration, transition work, and max velocity. We will just shift emphasis based on need. When you ask how we are different, it is that we individualize for improvement. Not that programs where everyone does the same thing can’t be effective, they can, but our philosophy is to be the best you have to do what is most effective.
At Speedxcel we have met with industry leaders at the highest levels over many years to develop our philosophy, and when a parent asks how you get such great results, they are a little surprised because they have tried the other way with little result and were skeptical until they are shown. That is what we pride ourselves in, results, working to be better each week, through individualizing and overcoming barriers to be faster.
More great results this week! Goals met and new ones set. Everyone getting faster and we have to start talking about a 23 mph club. What a great week for all of the young men who are working so hard. Excited for the week to come!
