Picture a 38,000-square-foot multi-tenant industrial building in West Michigan referenced by 11 distinct stakeholders in three weeks during a parallel roof, sprinkler, and tenant fit-out window. Drawings on file from 1998 with hand-marked changes - the kind nobody trusts. In a sequence like that, the scan absorbs the coordination cost.
Today's post highlights some of the requests we receive where we take chaos and turn it into clarity!

Outdated drawings are quietly driving rework and delays on data center retrofit. RCE laid out why Reality capture is becoming standard practice in 2026 Good piece. Link below.
Data centers are being retrofitted faster than their documentation can keep up.
Most facilities are still relying on drawings and floor plans that haven't been updated in years. That gap creates real risk - rework, delays, and decisions made on outdated information.
A Matterport 3D digital twin gives every team member - engineers, contractors, facilities managers - a current, accurate model of the space they can access remotely, without stepping into a live data hall.
We just published a piece on why reality capture is becoming standard practice in 2026 data center retrofits. Read it at the link below.

Matterport Scanning for Adaptive Reuse: Why 2026's Development Pipeline Runs on Digital Twins.
90% of development projects over the next decade will involve reusing existing buildings, and most of those buildings don't have accurate drawings to work from. A Matterport scan closes that gap in a single afternoon.
Three places we're seeing it pay off for developers right now: pre-development due diligence, design and construction coordination, and investor communication.

Behind every project is a story. This one is about getting a loved one home.
We have had the privilege of working alongside the team at Adaptable Home, a consultancy builder whose mission is simple but powerful: help people who have suffered catastrophic injuries return home safely, with dignity and quality of life.
When someone suddenly relies on a wheelchair, their home often no longer works for them. Bathrooms, hallways, and everyday spaces become barriers. The challenge is figuring out exactly what needs to change so the home supports the patient’s new reality.
That’s where Matterport 3D scanning plays a critical role.
By creating a detailed 3D scan of the home, the entire care team can step inside the space remotely. Occupational therapists can evaluate the layout, measure clearances, and determine what equipment and modifications are truly required. Builders and architects can then use those recommendations to design the right solutions before construction begins.
In one case, the team evaluated a bathroom where a standard shower bench was originally planned. After reviewing the 3D model and testing the clearances virtually, the occupational therapist determined it wouldn’t work safely with the equipment needed. The solution was an upgraded shower system with a slider bench that allowed the patient to transfer safely.
Because the home was documented in 3D, the team could clearly demonstrate why the change was necessary. Everyone involved — therapists, builders, architects, and even insurance adjusters — could see the space exactly as it exists.
No guesswork. No assumptions. Just clear evidence of what the patient needs.
Most importantly, it helps families prepare the home before the patient even returns, reducing stress during an already overwhelming time.
Technology is powerful when it serves people.
Honored to support teams like Adaptable Home who are working every day to help patients return home sooner, live safely, and maintain their independence.

🎉 Issue 13 Is Here: One Impossible Mission — Complete
Reflecting on the Matterport Journey, Honoring the Vision, and
Building What’s Next
When we first discovered Matterport, I had no idea the ripple effect it would have. It started with a bold idea — digitizing space — but quickly became the foundation for everything we have built since.
Over the last 10 years, we have used this platform to start not one but two businesses. Even more fulfilling? I’ve been able to help others across the country do the same. Every space we scan becomes part of something bigger — helping teams move faster, make smarter decisions, and bring ideas to life with clarity and confidence.
This issue of the LinkedIn newsletter is a reflection on that journey. It’s also a thank-you — to Matterport, to my industry peers, and to every client who’s trusted us to tell their story in 3D.
