Unless something drastically changes, it sadly looks like the Enchanted Valley Chalet will be on the Washington Trust for Historic Preservation's Most Endangered Places DEMOLISHED list. Even though it is on the National Registry of Historic Places.
It easily could be moved further back from the shore (our mover Jeff Monroe even still has the steel beams underneath the Chalet from 2014 from the first move of the Chalet).
Even if the shore changes again (nature can be unpredictable so how can we with certainty know what the river will do?) we agree with Rod Farlee of Friends of Olympic National Park that the Chalet should at least be preserved for the next generation.
National Park Service please reconsider the fate of the Chalet and Save the Enchanted Valley Chalet.
Enchanted Valley Chalet - Most Endangered Properties 2014 The Enchanted Valley Chalet, located in the heart of Olympic National Park, is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The 2-1/2 story, hand hewn...

Icy roads are possible tonight into Monday morning as colder temperatures are expected to filter in as snow showers gradually dissipate later tonight. Low temperatures tonight will generally fall into the 20s as a hard freeze is expected. Any residual liquid surface water will freeze to result in icy and potentially hazardous travel conditions. Use caution as outdoor surfaces, patios and walkways may become icy overnight.

Why I am cleaning up trash while I hike.
Blog, Posted by Rocio Miller
My name is Rocio Miller; I am a student at APUS studying Environmental Science. I enjoy hiking and love being outdoors, but every time I go for a day hike, I notice how much trash is in and near our beautiful trails and waterfalls. So I decided to do something about it that will satisfy me and protect Nature and our beautiful State.
So, why am I cleaning up trash while I hike? Because I am helping the environment, I am helping to keep our state clean so that the next time we go hiking, we can enjoy nature without seeing or stepping on an empty water bottle or trash and showing our future generation the importance of a clean and healthy environment.
As I do clean-ups with my crew, as we have filled up bags of trash, the satisfaction of seeing the area clean is something that I cannot explains. It just feels good. Seeing my daughter happy face when she says, “Mom, we did a great job, now the animals will not eat trash” these moments are what gives me a satisfaction of a million—knowing that I impact my daughters' life, who is the future generation, one that will protect and help the environment as I am, is rewarding to me.
You will ask yourself, how can we all help?
We can all help in many ways. Such as having clean-up workgroup days in which we can get together to clean up trails so that you do not have to step on the trash the next time you go hiking. What you need is a group of friends, family, or co-workers anyone that wants to help. Set up a time; you can even contact DNR, as they will provide trash bags that are helpful for these kinds of clean-ups.
Are you ready to help?
If you are interested in joining us, follow us on Facebook at Hiking Group in Washington State by Rocio Miller for our next group clean-up. We also have group day hikes, group birdwatching, and beach clean-up days. However, if you already want to help and have your crew ready, here are some safety steps to consider as you go out there and pick up trash.
1. Always wear gloves.
2. You can contact DNR for trash bag supplies; they are always happy to help.
3. If you question what that trash is and is not safe to clean up, please do not pick up; this includes used needles and toxic containers; please contact DNR.
4. If you have children, have them clean up easy things that will not harm them, such as papers, bags, or bottles.
I provide information. Please properly do the clean-ups, and safety comes first.
Note: I do not work for DNR, nor am I affiliated with them. I just have done plenty of clean-ups, and when I see them during their trail check-ups, they are always helpful in providing trash bags.
Thank you for following me hope we can meet you in our future group hikes.
Protect our world, our environment for our future generations.
