This is a photo of the Shirley-Eustis House in Boston. Way back in 81 I was offered (and accepted) the opportunity to participate in its restoration. It is an important historic site, originally build for Wm Shirley, an English Royal Governor of Massachusetts.

I just love this cozy little outdoor nook. The archway really makes this view. Do you feel inspired ?

I want to share this picture of an open kitchen built in one of the homes I designed in Arizona, some years ago.

Yes, it needs paint but this is the first home in America of my family, built by great, great, grandfather Nicolai.

Presently I am drawing up the construction plans for an addition which will more than double the living space in this 1950 home in the St. Paul, Mn. area. The addition will include a large master bed suite above and a large family room/kitchen down. These floor levels will be reached by a stair split off from the existing main floor level. This transition space will also include a new entry area with a sunlit 11' ceiling. This high, sunlit space will be the warm, bright heart of the home.

I am sharing the photo of this bathroom because it is so beautiful. I do not know who designed it or who built it, but kudos to them. I realize that it is a very high end thing, but the most beautiful in architecture often is. The harmony of the arches imparts a calming influence but the best part is the cross vaulted ceiling in the center of four arches. Just enjoy it for a moment.

I want to share this beautiful ceiling with my friends. It is a cross vaulted ceiling & the best feature is the flat arches in the center of each wall where it continues up into the vault, creating these opportunities for painted decorations. The kind of thing that can give a small room a touch of elegance and charm.
