FIBHORN speakers are different from all others. They reveal details both of the music and recording venue in great vinyl records from the "Golden Era" (1954-1994) that will completely surprise and enchant you. Once heard, you will not want to live without a pair. Three design aspects constitute our RADICAL MINIMALIST speaker design concept:

Each Wednesdsy night at 7 PM on Zoom we RELAX, BREATH DEEPLY and LISTEN to MUSIC in DISTANT TIMES & SPACES on ANALOG LP records.

(This program will be a partial repeat of last week’s GERM project that was distorted due to my incompetent ZOOM settings.)

DUKE ELLINGTON lost not only a professional colleague, a much-loved younger friend, but also one-half of his MUSICAL SOUL when BILLY STRAYHORN died in 1967. We will play a few selections from the LP “. . . . AND HIS MOTHER CALLED HIM BILL”

We go back 10 more years to 1958 and the
NEWPORT JAZZ FESTIVAL with the great Soul/Gospel singer MAHALIA JACKSON

What music could possibly follow? Last week it was MOZART, this week it is early BEETHOVEN from 1794 when he was the new BOY GENIUS in town (Vienna), fresh from BONN.

AND back to the DUKE with his spontaneous piano elegy.

Our Golden Era Recorded Music adventure for this Wednesday evening at 7 PM will lead us, once again, into amazing lost land!

Two years ago at a LIVE GERM project STEVE
introduced us to the superb music making of conductor ANDRE PREVIN in music of BENJAMIN BRITTEN.

Tonight we return to PREVIN in 2 roles: the conductor of RACHMANINOFF'S 2nd SYMPHONY and

The piano player for LEONTYNE PRICE in a program of AMERICAN SONGBOOK CLASSICS.
Great music making!

Two of the world's greatest pianists finish our program: NINA SIMONE and EARL “FATHA” HINES.

(Oh, and NINA sings also!)

Join us at the GOLDEN ERA RECORDED MUSIC PROJECT every Wednesday at 7 PM, for an ongoing pursuit of MUSICAL GREATNESS on ANALOG LP RECORDS from 1948 to 1988!

Our GERM adventure for this Wednesday evening will start with the lyrical JAZZ HARMONICA of TOOTS THIELEMANS and the sometimes lyrical jazz piano of BILL EVANS.

A moment will be devoted to an EDISON RECORD of 1895 and the invention of the phonograph almost 150 years ago.

The summer of 1899 produced a rich harvest for SIR EDWARD ELGAR in his SEA PICTURES. We will hear DAME JANET BAKER and SIR JOHN BARBIROLLI perform in a stunning LP.

CONNIE FRANCIS sends us home in ITALIAN!

Join us at the GOLDEN ERA RECORDED MUSIC PROJECT every Wednesday at 7 PM, for an ongoing pursuit of MUSICAL GREATNESS on ANALOG LP RECORDS from 1948 to 1988!

We have made a most astonishing discovery:
SLY AND THE FAMILY STONE was inspired by BABATUNDE OLATUNGI. Hear it on CLASSIC VINYL tonight!

BILL DIXON said a conductor is just a guy waving a stick in front of an orchestra. We will prove him wrong when we compare MONTEUX and KLEMPERER doing BEETHOVEN'S “SCENE BY THE BROOK.”

FEBRUARY is VALENTINE'S DAY month.
Let's hear a funny but jaundiced view of romance this week and save TRUE LOVE for next week!

A little equipment news that will enhance our
faith in the HUMAN RACE will send us home happy!

Join us at the GOLDEN ERA RECORDED MUSIC PROJECT in our ceaseless JOURNEY OF AMAZEMENT into the vast vaults of ANALOG LP RECORDINGS from 1948 to 1988!

I have come across an amazing LP of EARLY DAVE BRUBECK in concert at one of the foremost CLASSICAL musical conservatories in America: OBERLIN COLLEGE. His quartet is on fire, the crowd is ecstatic and we will hear side one in 1953 STEREO!

A FIBHORN speaker customer recently introduced me to the 1970's rock group LITTLE FEAT. Let's listen to a bit of WAITING for COLUMBUS and marvel.

ALAN HOHVANESS is perhaps the most neglected of AMERICAN composers and yet the most recorded on off-beat classical record labels. We will hear his very original SYMPHONY 15, the SILVER PILGRIMAGE.

The American group OREGON is truly beyond category: not ROCK, not JAZZ, not CLASSICAL. Listen and decide!

See you at 7 PM tonight on Zoom!

Join us at the GOLDEN ERA RECORDED MUSIC PROJECT in our ceaseless JOURNEY OF AMAZEMENT into the vast vaults of ANALOG LP RECORDINGS from 1948 to 1988!

Tonight we will hear the 4th and final movement of MAHLER'S SYMPHONY NO. 4. It is a song for girl singer and orchestra entitled “DAS HIMMLISCHE LEBEN (the HEAVENLY LIFE).” Mahler specifically instructed that it must be sung “absolutely without parody” and RERI GRIST does it perfectly.

Two astonishing letters from ARNOLD SCHOENBERG to MAHLER were the last received before Mahler died in 1911. First we will read them then hear some amazing music by this misunderstood ATONAL COMPOSER!

DUKE ELLINGTON at the BAL MASQUE NIGHT CLUB and BILLY TAYLOR at an EMPTY BALLROOM will lead to an ANALOG VISIT to CAFE LENA in SARATOGA!

Join us at this week's Golden Era Recorded Music Project in our neverending crossing of the frontier to the LAND of the GREATEST RECORDED MUSIC: ANALOG LPs from 1948 to 1988!

Tonight we finally let go of the holiday music with perhaps the greatest LP heard over the last 4 weeks: DUKE ELLINGTON & Orchestra playing BILLY STRAYHORN'S version of the NUTCRACKER by TCHAIKOVSKY. Listen and marvel!

We will play side 1 of the NUTCRACKER then hear the 2nd movement of the MAHLER FOURTH SYMPHONY on a pristine ANGEL (EMI) recording by OTTO KLEMPERER and orchestra in the great KINGSWAY HALL!

Then we will hear all SIDE 2 of the NUTCRACKER by ELLINGTON/STRAYHORN. Enjoy the familiar tunes in COMPLETELY NEW DRESS!

Happy Holidays to all! Tonight at the Golden Era Recorded Music Project, we celebrate with a program of MUSIC BOXES and a glittering, sumptuous suite by STRAUSS!

But first we will hear the never-fail combination of MASON-FIEDLER and the BOSTON POPS in a seasonal favorite sure to tug at your heart.

The RITA FORD collection of 19th century MUSIC BOXES in NEW YORK CITY is world renowned and we will hear seasonal music played on a sequence of these fabulous machines from the 18th century and culminating with the
magnificent OLYMPIA and REGINA boxes of the late 19th century.

We will end with an extended ORCHESTRAL SUITE from the opera WOMAN WITHOUT A SHADOW by that great wizard of the orchestra, RICHARD STRAUSS.

Time allowing, we will finish with a TCAIKOVSKY-ELLINGTON-STRAYHORN GEM.

The ANALOG LP era is celebrated every WEDNESDAY night at 7PM on the GOLDEN Era Recorded Music project. Join our HOLIDAY Journey!

To introduce our MESSIAH REVUE lets start with the 2nd CONCERTO FOR 2 ORCHESTRAS by Mr. Handel.

Then on to KINGSWAY HALL, London, a few blocks from where Mr. Handel lived 200 years before. The great TED HEATH and his
band absolutely on fire!

VIDO MUSSO keeps the fire hot with SHERRY PINK.

From the LYRIC THEATER: COLE PORTER and 3
numbers from ANYTHING GOES (Late analog: 1988)

Mozart made an arrangement of MESSIAH 25 years after the original. Let's hear a few numbers from part 1 then

Another great recording by HARNONCOURT shows the incredible range of possible MESSIAH interpretations. A SURPRISE to close!

Every Wednesday night at 7 PM, we celebrate the ANALOG LP era at our Golden Era Recorded Music project. Join our HOLIDAY Journey!

We start in 1955 with our festive MESSIAH sampling: DAVID LLOYD (of LAKE GEORGE OPERA fame) singing the first tenor solo for BOSTON'S HANDEL & HAYDN SOCIETY.

The VENTURES part 2 starts with their 1st hit from 1958, finishes with SWAMP ROCK 20 years later!

A DAVE BRUBECK original from 1956 then TWO Georgia themed jazz tunes from DAVE and the BOBBY HACKETT JAZZ QUARTET.

A letter from MOZART to his father announcing his engagement, then a piece of Serenade K 375, Beautiful.

MAHLER'S dying words were “Mozart Darling!” Let's finish with his CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS SCHERZO!

Tonight's program will feature the sound of woodwinds and brass in various styles and combinations and we will start with the CLARINET RHAPSODY of CLAUDE DEBUSSY.

Then GERRY MULLIGAN (baritone sax) and CHET BAKER (trumpet) form an unbeatable combination in several numbers sans piano (most unusual) on the rare CRESCENDO label.

BUDDY de FRANCO was one of the great jazz clarinet virtuosi and we will hear him on the flip side of the same LP.

The DEBUSSY LA MER project continues with the BOSTON SYMPHONY led by CHARLES MUNCH and the 2nd movement, PLAY OF THE WAVES. Incredible woodwind and brass!

It's NOVEMBER and time to start thinking HANDEL and MESSIAH! I came across a BOSTON SYMPHONY spin-off, the ZIMBLER SINFONIETTA led by THOMPSON STONE. Let's hear the overture!

What do we hear on the Golden Era Recorded Music project? Simply ALL MUSIC on Planet Earth from 1948 to 1988! Join the Journey on Zoom via ANALOG LP.

Tonight we start with another great and unique hit song by JIMMY BUFFET. With this one he created his own musical pop genre!

GERRY MULLIGAN was a great jazz artist on the baritone saxophone. We will hear him in 1958 at the NEWPORT JAZZ FESTIVAL then 15 years later in Berlin with DAVE BRUBECK.

We will then leave the Western World behind and visit the CHINESE CHUN DYNASTY (265-420 AD) and hear a Chinese vertical flute not unlike the JAPANESE bamboo flutes we heard a few months ago.

Our sampling of WAGNER'S JUICY BITS from the RING OF THE NIBELUNGEN continues with SIEGFRIED and BRUNHILDE'S AWAKENING. WOW!!

Let's close with the ANDANTE from RACHMANINOFF'S CELLO SONATA.

What do we hear on the Golden Era Recorded Music project? Simply ALL MUSIC on Planet Earth from 1948 to 1988! Join the Journey via ANALOG LP.

Tonight we visit four countries and hear four bands, the last gasp of BIG BAND JAZZ in the 1960's and 1970's: GERMANY, CUBA, GREAT BRITAIN and the U.S.A.

BERT KAEMPFERT and his GERMAN orchestra start our journey with 2 smooth-as-silk arrangements, then from CUBA it's PEREZ PRADO and his mambo magic. Two numbers by TED HEATH and his band take us across the pond to ENGLAND, and we finish with the high voltage of

COUNT BASIE in the USA!

A classical FRENCH TOUCH by FRANCIS POULENC puts us on the ballet stage with THE MODEL ANIMALS.

TOMMY JAMES & the SHONDELLS, JETHRO TULL, LOGGINS & MESSINA and THE VILLAGE PEOPLE put us in the mood for the PARTY at SILVER BAY! A back-to-back montage!

What do we hear at the Golden Era Recorded Music project? Simply ALL MUSIC recorded on Planet Earth from 1948 to 1988! Join the Journey via ANALOG LP.

We begin tonight with the “other” great jazz orchestra of the 1950's &'60's: COUNT BASIE and his legendary “ATOMIC LP” of 1958. Nothing finer in all of jazzdom!

The great CHOIR of NORMAN LUBOFF went through many stylistic changes. We will sample the ROMANTIC, the BRITISH and the AMERICAN WEST.

DUKE ELLINGTON is the other half of the BASIE-ELLINGTON Great Jazz Pair. We will hear the orchestra in 1 or 2 numbers from the PIANO IN THE BACGROUND lp.

AND for something completely new on the GERM project: A classical montage of ALAN HOVHANESS, GUSTAV MAHLER and IGOR STRAVINSKY (Eastman Winds, Fritz Wunderlich, Pierre Monteaux) GREAT TUNES!

Let's open with a few songs by the TWIN LEGENDS: BING CROSBY and PERRY COMO, and continue with NEW ENGLAND ANTHEMS for chorus by WILLIAM BILLINGS.

Last week we laughed to PDQ BACH'S SEASONINGS ORATORIO and this week we will marvel at A MUSICAL JOKE by the real McCOY: W. A. MOZART and his MUSICAL JOKE, K 522 led by WILLI BOSKOVSKY.

Two very different concertos: ALICIA de LARRROCHA and the CONCERTO BREVE by Spanish composer MONTSALVSATGE and MOZART'S CLARINET CONCERTO with GERVASE de PEYER and PETER MAAG conducting.

The great FRITZ WUNDERLICH sends us home with THE DRUNKARD'S SONG from MAHLER'S SONG OF THE EARTH. And maybe a bit of CHRISTA LUDWIG if time allows.

Tonight we start out in the FLORIDA KEYS with JIMMY BUFFETT and 2 of his chart buster songs. Then it's on to GREAT BRITAIN during WWII and VERA LYNN boosting morale and hope.

The VINYL VAULT has washed to the beach 2 DAVE BRUBECK treasures: a 1954 LP of his own piano compositions and a late 1960's album of his take on COLE PORTER. BONUS: A stunning essay on the 3 levels of jazz creation. Don't miss this one!

DUKE ELLINGTON loved the old steam engine trains and he wrote a mini concerto for STEAM ENGINE in 1958. We will hear it and then on to a bit of the 19 year old MAHLER and his SONG OF LAMENT. Tuneful, tragic, amazing.
