Good sunny morning from Gettysburg, friends and ! For all fans of Fan the wolfhound and the Irish Brigade Monument, we've found an antique wolfhound button! And now it's the "gem" in a stacked at our LoyaltyOfDogs Etsy shop! See it here, https://loyaltyofdogs.etsy.com/listing/4515241378, where it's available with free shipping!

As many Gettysburg visitors know, the majestic Irish wolfhound statue on the Irish Brigade Monument doesn't represent an actual dog but, instead, represents faithfulness. It's a virtue that certainly applies to the patriotic soldiers of the Irish Brigade...and also to their dogs, as shown in a remarkable brief account by a veteran who wrote about real wolfhound Fan and her actions during a battle. You can read it here, at our LoyaltyOfDogs blog:

With an instance of going AWOL on his record, along with apparent shirking, Eben Fiske of the 13th Massachusetts Infantry wasn’t a model soldier, as Ron Coddington recounts in this video from his terrific series “Life on the Civil War Research Trail.” But, he adds, Capt. Fiske was an accomplished artist. And he drew portraits of a few soldiers’ pets from the 13th, including Spot (and Virginia, his cat, along with Billy the pig). Friends and will find Spot at 2:17--Virginia at 1:33, and Billy at 2:03.
