Lesson no.4 - Lessons from Animals in The Bible: FISH 📖

Breakthroughs happen for those who follow Jesus

One overarching theme in each of these fishing stories is the sovereign authority of Jesus. Only He knows where the fish are and how to bring them in. Only He knows which fish are good and which are bad. Only He knows when to cast a wide net for a huge catch and when to use a fishhook for a precise catch.

So what’s our job? 🤔
To show the kind of radical, obedient faith that lowers the net or throws in the hook when He says so, even if it doesn’t make sense. We are to pull in whatever catch He provides, working as hard as we can to carry out the Great Commission. We are to follow His example and lay down our personal rights and freedoms for the sake of His kingdom. When we trust Jesus enough to do what He says, miracles will happen.

🎣 Think about ways you can cast the gospel net more widely than ever before. Commit to share the good news of Jesus with someone new this week.

⛓️‍💥 Consider what personal freedoms you have been tightly grasping. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you lay down your rights for the sake of the Kingdom.

Teaching no.3 - Lessons from Animals in The Bible: OXEN 📖

We should express devotion to God through sacrificial giving

Oxen in the Bible usually appear as possessions, sacrificial offerings, or hardworking farm animals. Like donkeys, oxen are not especially honorable or impressive on their own, but they are strong and useful, illustrating several spiritual principles.

They represent the sacrifice required by each of us to worship God as He deserves, to willingly answer His call, and to support the hardworking ministers He has appointed over us. They remind us not to present offerings to the Lord that have cost us nothing (2 Samuel 24:24), but instead to offer our bodies to God as living, holy sacrifices (Romans 12:1)

🤲🏼 Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you to someone who needs to experience the love of Jesus, and then look for ways you can sacrificially serve that person.

If you are breathing right now, you qualify. 🫵🏼

Young or old, strong or weak, joyful or grieving, you have breath—and that breath was given to you for praise. The same breath that sustains your body is the breath with which you can bless the name of the Lord. This is profoundly encouraging. You do not need a special position, a perfect past, or an unbroken spirit. You need only the breath God has already given you. As long as there is breath in your lungs, there is a reason and a capacity to praise.

And one day, when this earthly breath ceases, those who belong to Christ will breathe the air of a new creation where praise never ends. Until that day, every breath is an opportunity. 💬
