You’ve heard of security badges? Truckstop.com had a security chipmunk. 🐿️

Meet Chippy: Truckstop’s fraud-fighting mascot since the ’90s.

What started as a stuffed animal with a built-in Bad Boys theme song became a symbol of something much bigger.

Our promise to protect brokers and carriers from fraud... LONG before it became one of the industry's biggest threats.

Back in the day, freight fraud looked a little different.

The biggest issue?

Brokers who didn’t pay carriers.

We logged every complaint by hand and stored them in a filing cabinet (Chippy stood guard on top).

If a broker hit three complaints for non-payment, their account was shut off until they made it right.

And when we caught a real bad actor? Chippy got squeezed and sang his victory song. 🎶🚔

Fast forward to today, and fraud has evolved into:

-Cargo theft
-Double brokering
-Identity fraud
..and more sophisticated scams.

That’s why our Security team—bringing 97 years of combined experience—is laser focused on keeping our platform safe.

We’re not just here to connect loads.

We’re here to help you move freight smarter, safer, and more confidently.

Chippy may be retired now, but we’re still chipping away at freight fraud every single day. 🛡️🐿️

Before the multiple HQs… before the shift to a fully remote workforce…

Truckstop.com’s journey began in the most humble of places: a few homes scattered around New Plymouth, Idaho.

But as the team grew, so did the need for more space.

And in 2004, we moved into our first official headquarters: the local grocery store. 🛒

Yes, really!

At the time, we were nearly 40 employees strong, building something big in a small town.

→ By 2009, we were ready for a home of our own. We broke ground on a 65,000-square-foot, three-story building that would take up nearly an entire city block. And in 2010, we cut the ribbon and moved into 222 N. Plymouth Ave, just in time to celebrate our 15th anniversary.

→ From there, our footprint expanded to offices in Boise, Phoenix, California, Dallas, Chicago, and even Canada!

→ But New Plymouth will always be where our story started. 🏡

→ From fax machines to freight tech, one thing’s never changed: our mission to help freight move smarter, safer, and faster.

💬 Who all was around during the grocery store days??!

What did your company website look like back in the day?

We asked ourselves the same question, and thanks to the Wayback Machine, we didn’t have to guess: 👉 https://web.archive.org

Truckstop.com has been online since before Google existed.

And over the past 30 years, our website has evolved from a simple freight-matching page to a full-fledged digital ecosystem powering the North American freight network.

🖥️ In 1995, it was basic HTML and a whole lot of grit.
📈 In the early 2000s, we leaned into function over flash (brokers and carriers needed speed).
📱 Then came mobile compatibility, product expansion, and brand refreshes.
⚙️ Today, our site is home to compliance tools, rate insights, fraud prevention tech, and so much more.

Every version tells a story.

Not just about how far we have come, but how far the entire freight industry has come, too.

And yet, one thing hasn’t changed: our mission to level the playing field and help carriers and brokers succeed.

🕰️ The Wayback Machine is more than internet nostalgia. It’s a reminder that great ideas (even in clunky 90s fonts) can stand the test of time.

Look up your own site and drop a screenshot in the comments? Let’s see how far we’ve all come!

This Fourth of July, we salute the spirit of independence, not just from 1776, but the kind you show every day behind the wheel.

Hauling freight coast to coast, rain or shine, you keep America moving forward.

Here’s to freedom, grit, and the road ahead. 🇺🇸

Happy Independence Day to the hardest-working folks on the highway!

30 years. Countless conversations. Endless miles of show floor carpet. From MATS to GATS, Texas to Florida, Truckstop.com has shown up and shaken hands with thousands of customers across the country...

Trade shows have always been about more than booths and banners.

They’re where relationships are built and trust is earned.

As our founder Scott Moscrip says, “We’re out to level the playing field, we’re out to help carriers have better lives. And while we help them, they help us. This is a very symbiotic relationship.”

Here’s to 30 years of showing up and to ALL the incredible faces we’ve met along the way!

Take a trip back to the '90s with our longest-tenured team member, Wendi Wilde, Assurance Services Manager, as she shares what life was really like in the early days of Truckstop.

Wendi has been a cornerstone of our fraud prevention and security efforts since day one.

When we say we’re the most trusted freight network in North America, it’s because we have nearly three decades of dedication...

And people like Wendi to back it up.

🎉 The countdown to Truckstop’s 30th anniversary starts now — and it all began in a basement...

Back in 1995, our founder Scott Moscrip launched the FIRST-ever online freight-matching marketplace from the basement of his home in New Plymouth, Idaho. 📍

One computer.

One big idea.

One employee.

That spark? It started a movement that changed freight forever.

By March 2001, "The Internet Truckstop" would surpass 30,000 customers, comprising a mix of brokers, 3PLs, 4PLs, and carriers.

Who else remembers those early dial-up days?! 🙋‍♂️

Innovation Starts with Identity: Why We’re Bringing Back Truckstop.com 06/23/2025

A message from our Founder, Scott Moscrip:

"Truckstop’s path to success has included stubbing our toes, banging our knees, and hitting our foreheads more times than I can even count. It’s also included getting back up, putting one foot in front of the other, and moving forward with humility and the conviction that as long as we’re doing what’s right for our customers, we’re going to be OK.

That’s because being true to your core principles always makes things faster, easier, and safer. Think of riding a bike: when your eyes are on where you want to go and you’re pedaling in that direction, riding is pretty easy, balance happens almost automatically. But focusing anywhere else slows you down, makes balancing harder, and creates more risk.

It’s time for Truckstop to get back to our roots. Our brand has always been known for innovating on behalf of carriers and brokers, because that’s when we’ve always been at our best. So we’re refocusing our efforts on building ways to take friction out of the spot market for you, our customers.

In fact, we’ve already started: last week, we launched a feature that will allow carriers see load and broker factorability. Almost immediately, one customer wrote in to say, “This is one of the best feature(s) you have implemented.” I’m excited at how quickly our team is already innovating new products for our customers.

I know that actions speak louder than words, which is why I’ve also decided to bring back our previous name, truckstop.com, and our previous logo of the truck. You may have seen “truckstop.com” rolled out on our site this morning, along with a version of our waypoint that boasts cab roof lights and “M” grill. Over the weeks and months ahead, you’ll see these rolled out across all our platforms.

This is my way of honoring the customers we serve and keeping us humble as we move forward. Years ago, I said in an interview, “I envision the future of Truckstop continuing on the path that it’s on: Being customer-focused and helping the customers to make more money, helping the customers to have better jobs, and helping the customers to find joy in the work that they do.” That’s as true today as ever.

Thank you for sharing this journey with us. We are excited to be working with you, our customers, and to find new innovative ways to help you do your work faster and easier. You’re the reason we do what we do, and I can’t wait to share what we’ve got in store!

Improving the movement of freight.

Truckstop.com is a freight management and logistics company started in 1995 when founder Scott Moscrip began offering a better way for truck drivers to find loads than by posting signs on the side of their trucks or gathering around local bulletin boards.

Now, over two decades later, Scott’s digital vision has grown and Truckstop.com’s dedicated partners work to help truck drivers and their trusted freight partners grow their businesses. His guiding idea is still the same—always work to find a better way.
