Handcrafted furniture constructed of steel, reclaimed wood, and concrete

So the folks at FB keep sending me reminders that I haven't posted in a while-and it has been a while. Not like I took the year off. Always busy. With something. Here's a few projects from the last year or so.

Constructed a chimney extension. Interesting angles on the 70 year old masonry. 12 gauge steel sheet metal skin with angle iron frame and rivet details.

Completed this rustic console table. I put a satin clear coat finish on the 100 year old barn wood and angle iron. The steel gets a gunmetal look. The barn wood still has the sawmill marks on the grain- see third picture.

I am coordinating a project with my wife. Cheri did the architectural work for the ranch headquarters, and I am doing some reclaimed wood and steel work for the offices. This wood is century old redwood from an old barn on the ranch. Rivet details and angle iron compliment the beautiful wood. Still unfinished, light touch to preserve the history. Next up a conference table base. I love to turn old wood into memories!

Artisans in steel

Italian craftsmen. Beautiful steel work from Rome, Ischia, and Sienna. I have got some new techniques to work on!

The seating arrangement is finished. I really like the rhythm of the inverted trapezoid table base with the benches. Reclaimed wood and aged steel finish is a good look with our Old Fig home.

Here's the process of designing and building the benches. I started with a wood mockup to test the stability of the frame. I was a bit concerned they could be top heavy and want to tip. The mockup frame was very stable, and I started cutting steel.

Some more modern gates and a table base. On this project, I did the steel, not the wood.

I am just finishing a gate and side panel project. This will provide a little privacy and security for a side yard in the Fresno High area. I like the rhythm of the circles and vertical bars. The side panels will become trellises for some greenery.

Inspirations from Bisbee, Az. Very cool old copper mining town. Reinvented by a new group of artists.
