STEP recognizes ABC member companies who consistently excel in the field of safety, but more importantly it provides an evaluation tool to help identify areas to improve a company’s safety program. The highest honor recognizing a safety program that demonstrates the highest commitment is the diamond-level. We want you to "breathe easy" when you dine with Harvey's, that's why we're excited to announce a healthy upgrade to our HVAC system!

We have recently installed, "Needlepoint bipolar Ionization" or NBPI, which is a technology that will add negative and positive charged ions into the air that can kill the COVID-19 virus.

A recent study shows that NBPI killed 99.4% of the COVID-19 virus within 30 minutes. It is used in thousands of buildings, including hospitals and the White House.

Our goal is to make our restaurant safer and comfortable for our team and our guests.

😷We are still asking that you wear a mask until you are seated as mandated through State of Michigan guidelines.

Also, a big THANK-YOU to Answer Heating & Cooling, Inc. who installed our new air conditioning units!

Stop in our showroom to get a new furnace filter. Your furnace will run more efficient with a clean filter in it!

Confused on filter ratings? What you buy from an HVAC Contractor may be more money, but it will be a much better quality.

MERV means Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value which was developed by the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioner Engineers - ASHRAE. MERV values vary from 1 to 16. The higher the MERV value the more efficient the filter will be in trapping airborne particles.

WHAT IS FPR (FILTER PERFORMANCE RATING)? FPR, or filter performance rating, is a rating system developed by The Home Depot for brands sold through their stores, including Honeywell. It utilizes a color code and number scale (4 to 10) that closely resembles the MERV rating.

WHAT IS MPR (MICRO-PARTICLE PERFORMANCE RATING)?
MPR, or micro-particle performance rating, is a rating system developed by 3M. It rates the manufacturer’s filters and their ability to capture airborne particles smaller than 1 micron.

Your air conditioner isn't just your best line of defense against summertime heat. It's also your number one tool for managing high humidity. If you ever felt like your air conditioner struggled to keep you comfortable this season, it might be because the system wasn't removing as much humidity as you'd like it to.

Thankfully, there are a few ways to make your AC remove more humidity. The number 1 item is:

Keep your coil clean.

When your evaporator coil (indoor) is covered in dust and dirt, it can't remove all of the heat and humidity that it's designed to remove. Even if the coil isn't so dirty that it prevents the AC from cooling your home, it can still be dirty enough to inhibit moisture removal.

The solution? Change or clean your air filter per manufacturer instructions. It's that simple.

As long as your air filter is doing its job, the coil shouldn't be dirty. When your filter gets dirty, the blower fan will pull particulates around the filter and they'll enter your air conditioner. Over time, these particulates will accumulate on the coil. You'll have to hire a professional to clean it.

We do have in stock a large variety of filters with various MERV ratings for even those who suffer from allergies and asthma.

Programmable Thermostats

Installing a programmable thermostat in your home will let you run a scheduled heating and cooling program without having to remember to manually change your settings throughout the day.

Most programmable thermostats are able to automatically adjust the heating temperature in your home up to six or more times per day. You can also manually override the automatic settings if you need to at any time without interrupting the daily or weekly programming.

A programmable thermostat offers such ease of use, that it's easy to set your home's temperature lower while you are asleep or during the day when you are at work.

In the summer months, raising your home's cooling temperature to over 78 degrees Fahrenheit for eight hours per day — a typical work day — can really make a difference in your utility bills.

When programming your thermostat, just take into consideration your daily schedule. In the winter, do you like to sleep in a cool house? If you like your home cooler at night, set your thermostat to a lower setting about an hour before you actually go to bed so the house starts to cool down. Prior to waking up, you might want to set the thermostat so the heat comes on approximately two hours before you actually get up so the house is nice and warm.

You should also consider adjusting the thermostat anytime your house is vacant for four or more hours per day. Typically, adjusting temperatures 5 – 8 degrees (down in winter, up in summer) can help save energy if you are going to be away from home for several hours.

We carry several different programmable thermostats here at Answer and you can always stop in to see the different options and talk to a comfort specialist. Our technicians carry a variety in their vehicles as well.

Lightning rods, conductors, and ground rounds direct lightning safely into the ground and away from your house. However, they don't provide guaranteed protection, so it's best to turn off your AC during thunderstorms just to be safe.

Make no mistake about it: damage caused by a lightning strike can kill your air conditioner, which is full of sensitive electrical circuitry. This could lead to a costly air conditioning repair, and that's when you know it's time to call Answer Heating & Cooling!
