The Parkinson’s Resource Facilitator is a social worker, or other trained individual, to assist individuals with Parkinson’s and their families with local resources. These community-based resources may include but not limited to: mental health resources, transportation, respite, or financial assistance. This individual will host monthly support group meetings for individuals with Parkinson’s and their families to improve quality of life and reduce crisis events. This 2022 Summer Nurse Externship Program provides nursing students who are about to enter their senior year the opportunity to work side by side with an experienced nursing professional. You will participate in a period of classroom orientation before being assigned to the clinical areas. A weekly lecture series designed especially for Nurse Externs is also offered. Topics have ranged from skin and wound care, to pain management, to oncology issues, and more.
The program runs from June 6th through August 12th. Participants must commit to the entire 10-week program. Work requirements include three 12-hour shifts working side by side with preceptor. Shifts can include days, nights, and weekends (must be flexible).
To qualify, candidates must have completed junior year in an accredited BSN program. BLS certification also required.
