I’ve had quite a bit of people reach out to me recently so thought I would just let everyone know if they plan on placing an order.
I am currently booked out for 6 weeks for any custom order. I will try my best to get your order done before the 6 weeks. But I have a lot of orders that I’m working on, trying to keep the booths stocked, getting ready for several craft fairs and trying to get ready for Christmas.
I appreciate your patience and apologize for the long turnaround time.

This wasn’t an easy piece for me,
I don’t know how many times I went back and forth with how I wanted to go about this piece. Especially the colors but in the end I ended up going with what I originally envisioned and so glad I did. It wasn’t until I put the sign down and stood over it that I was completely happy with how it turned out.

We are so excited to be looking for fellow vintage,antiques and repurposed resellers as well as creatives of all types to join us for our first annual Market Days at Artifact this Fall, Sept. 24 & 25 as well as our first annual Kris Kringle Market on November 5 & 6.
Artifact is fast becoming a favorite retail venue for shoppers in Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania and surrounding areas in northern Virginia.

I’ve been thinking about our journey there a lot lately. I’ve seen so many of our customers ❤️ at Artifact after our hiatus.
You have been so supportive and usually ask how we feel about the current state of the manor. It’s sad of course and this month would have been our 10th year in business at the manor house so it is bittersweet.
This old gal was a tough sell to just about everyone. Our then landlord, the folks in the area as well as customers, just about everyone said the location was going to fail. Believe it or not she was in worse shape when we found her than she is now.
I was right though. I could see the chandeliers hanging from the ceilings, the floors freshened up, rooms filled with beautiful furniture and a perfect squeaky red front door. She deserved another life and we gave her a great last one. Destinations might take more patience but in my mind they have to be special. I planned for her to be a destination and a destination she was.
Thousands of people shopped with us over the years. You attended our events, put up with our quirky side too. We became a destination as well as a weekly jaunt where you could relax from the daily grind and wander through our halls.
Folks ask me now if I wish we had stayed. No, we don’t. While I miss her terribly at times I don’t miss the upkeep and constant worry of a 300 year old building. There is the physical side too, we are getting older and traversing her halls required more.
There is another aspect as well. With the encroaching buildup in the area we knew we were only a placeholder and her impending fate was most likely sealed. I began thinking and praying about our future there. It took a couple of years to make the decision to let her go. It was a huge decision for me.
Thinking back to our first years in business it was incredibly difficult. Politics had changed the economy, we tried everything we could afford but had no heat in the building for years, Virginia had the coldest, snowy winters in years, we had a flea market next door. Oh my gosh, it was so challenging at every turn.
In spite of it all, we are proud of the hard work it took to build our business there. We are incredibly thankful to our friends and customers who never forgot about us. We are infinitely grateful to our vendors who became like family. They shared in all of it, love the manor like we do, made a commitment and helped create its homelike atmosphere for all of you.
It’s a huge commitment on every level to own a small business and I ask you to support all of yours in your community.

❤️Finishing up the classroom so classes can start next month. The floor about kicked my behind but it’s finished. Now the work table is getting a makeover with our DIY and Paint Couture products and of course Iron Orchid Designs and various decoupage papers.

Good morning folks! We’re so excited to be on the road to pick up some great items for our upcoming Fall Market Days on September 30 & October 1st.
Tim is the more experienced Virginia traffic driver so while he braves that, thank goodness, I’m working on collecting a few photos for some local print ads we’ve purchased for Artifact.
It’s a little difficult to capture our store in a photo or two and I’ve realized we usually highlight items rather than the many beautiful displays we create in store. Plus, as you always tell us, we have a nice variety of merchandise and it would look all jumbled up if we try to capture all the styles and products in couple of photos. That’s all ok though because we work hard and want you to be delighted each time you come to shop with us. ❤️
