After reading an article on laughter and it’s simple ability to start our days off with a smile, I took more notice of how few jokes I see on Facebook these days. So, in honor of school starting and my mother, here you go.

Just in case we win the 1.1 Billion, with a B, lottery tonight I wanted to say how much I enjoy being a DIY Paint retailer. 😂😂😂

Seriously though, when I find products to love I really love them hard. DIY is an all natural specialty paint made with a base of clay and a lot of pigment. It’s special but not difficult and affords so much versatility in its use. I cannot wait for you to join in on the class and learn to love it as I do. TBA

It’s hard to believe that it’s the last day of July 2023.

The dog days of summer are usually slower for our type of business so I’m super happy to see them move on. With not much opportunity to rest it would be easy to slowly wonder into August but nope, we know what’s coming so full gear it is.

I love the end of months at our shop too. It’s the time where we welcome new vendors, get to work on changing things up and kick start the happenings of the coming weeks.

Sometimes we pick up the strangest things.

While cool finds, it’s not the Brownie 8 mm that’s so strange or the Abbott and Costello reel but rather it’s the large film reel titled snakes. Ugh. I really don’t want to preview that or the other included reels titled L.I. RR wreck 195?.
The ‘42 flood of Lordville too.
Seriously though, the more macabre subjects are highly collectible so now we’re on a quest to research.
But that’s how we keep learning. 😀

Good morning everyone. It’s been a long couple of weeks where I have not made an actual post and some of you have noticed I’ve been quiet.

My mom got sick quite suddenly so we went up north to visit with her and help settle her into hospice care. We thought we’d have more time with her but unfortunately, she passed on Wednesday.
I debated whether to mention it on this business page but y’all have been with us through the happy times too and some have asked about classes and such.

So that’s the situation. We’ll have a service later in the month and of course will travel back up north.

Mom is the sole source of my love of antiques and shopping for them. She took us with her on great hunts for fines antique and vintage things to fill her home. She was a great refinisher and interior stylist too. She was a great help placing and finishing pieces when we opened at the manor house back in 2012.
Tim and I were able to help her create a pretty galley wall in her room just before she passed.

We’ll miss her.
