Hard work, focusing on a Frederick for all, and listening to the residents of his district. That's how Christian Benford for Frederick campaigned and that is how he will serve the district. Muy orgulloso, Christian.

Francisco García and a colleague were detained by immigration authorities on June 10 around 7 a.m. while on their way to work. They had stopped at a gas station in Charleston, West Virginia, to buy breakfast; as they were leaving, they noticed a sheriff's patrol car following them. Moments later, a private vehicle cut across their path and forced them off the road. The sheriff claimed he stopped them because their license plate was not visible—an assertion that was untrue. At that point, individuals from the private vehicle opened their car doors and asked if they had legal residency. They did not answer, but were nonetheless pulled out of the vehicle and handcuffed. Their truck was left stranded and was quickly towed away.
Both men are currently being held in detention in Pennsylvania. They are facing pressure to sign documents agreeing to a voluntary return to their home countries. Francisco García, a native of El Salvador, has lived in the U.S. for over 13 years and has no criminal record.
Francisco is the sole provider for his household, where his wife and three-year-old son are waiting for him.

Tomorrow is primary day in Frederick. If you live in County District 3 and you didn't mail in your ballot or go during early voting, make sure you get out tomorrow for Christian Benford for Frederick. He has put in the work, getting out and talking to folks in every corner of the district to find out what issues people care about. To get the real stories of the people he wants to represent.
Even while doing all that work, he still showed up to support the community. When a food distribution event where I was helping needed more volunteers, I reached out to Christian and he stopped canvassing long enough to show up with more volunteers to help. Tonight, on the eve of the election, he took time to show up at a RISE Coalition of Western Maryland meeting to see what more he could do.
Christian is what this district needs to advocate for the issues that really matter.
Christian Benford for District 3!

It's worth repeating. Christian Benford for Frederick is the right choice for County Council District 3!
I am proud to have earned the endorsement of City Council President César Díaz. I admire his drive to stand by our neighbors, whether that is advocating for strengthened community safety or championing initiatives for working people. He understands that investments in residents are investments in all of us.
On the County Council, I will stand alongside President Díaz so we can deliver for our neighbors along the Golden Mile corridor to bring long-promised projects such as the Westside Regional Park and Library to life, support and uplift our immigrant neighbors, expand transit service to make it more convenient and reliable, and invest in childcare so families have greater access and lower costs.

I am proud to endorse Christian Benford for Frederick County Council District 3. Christian has been showing up for this district for years.
He has been a tireless advocate for those who don't have a voice. Whether it’s at City or County council meetings, a school board meeting or testifying in Annapolis, he is not afraid to tell those in power what the residents of Frederick need and demand from their government.
More than just advocating for change, Christian gets out in the community to make change happen. Making sure people know their constitutional rights, distributing or growing food, helping track immigration enforcement abuse, or organizing events for others to have a platform to let their voices be heard. Christian doesn’t shy away from hard work when people need help.
He did all this while making sure he learned how governments can work for the people, not just for those with influence and money. Putting himself through a Master of Public Administration, working for lawmakers at the county and state levels, Christian has first hand knowledge on what it takes to make sure the government puts people first.
Frederick County District 3 deserves a council member who puts community first and backs it up with action. Christian Benford does both and that is why I endorse him for Frederick County Council to represent District 3.

Can't wait for the market to open for the season and even more excited about the new location. The market is such a valuable resource for the community, it would have been a huge loss if they had to move away from the west side of town.

Last night the City Values Act passed the City Council 7-0. This addition to the Frederick City code makes a statement. It lets all residents know that they can feel safe in our facilities and can participate in the services we provide. It lets everyone know that if you live in Frederick, we value you and you are part of what makes our city great.
I want to thank all the people who came out last night in support of the Act, and to my fellow council members for standing with me to push for this important statement.
Gracias!
