Congratulations ISEF winners!
We're excited to announce the winners of the 2026 Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair!
Hikaru Kuribayashi, 17, of Sapporo, Japan won first place and received the $100,000 George D. Yancopoulos Innovator Award for his creation of a simulation program to understand complex folding, like in origami. The award is named in honor of George D. Yancopoulos, the pioneering drug researcher and Regeneron co-Founder, Board co-Chair, President and Chief Scientific Officer.
Lakshmi Agrawal, 18, of Bellevue, Washington, and Nikola Veselinov, 17, of Sofia, Bulgaria each received the Regeneron Young Scientist Awards of $75,000, Agrawal for a sponge that removes salmon-killing pollutants from water, and Veselinov for describing a new theorem in mathematics that describes the conditions under which certain equations cannot be solved using basic math functions.

Happy Mother’s Day at Aavanee’s Desi Senior Cafe’. In collaboration with Asian American Health Initiative a new wellness series was launched with consultant and Psychotherapist Dr Anjali Jain and coordinator, Ms Gurpreet Kaur. The session was attended by 25 members on this popular family day. Dr Krishan Arora cheered the group with Laughing Yoga. Emotional wellbeing of aging Asian Americans (South Asian) is an important aspect as they experience life transitions, social isolation, coping up with grief etc. The event ended on a high note with lunch buffet at India Palace Bar & Tandoor (Germantown).

Frederick County Government is hiring an Equity and Inclusion Coordinator to support key initiatives within the Office of Equity and Inclusion and help lead the work of the Equity & Inclusion Commission and the Immigrant Affairs Commission.
In this role, you’ll strengthen partnerships across County government and the community, develop and implement equity‑focused programs, guide inclusive practices, and manage communications and outreach efforts. This position also supervises interns and staff and works closely with the Chief Equity and Inclusion Officer.
Salary Range: $59,074.36 - $100,426.42 Annually
