Congratulations to Jim Kokenyesdi of Fraser High School, winner of a $3,000 Single Grant from the Delia Martin Gift!

This grant enhances communication and student engagement across Career and Technical Education programs to help enhance the Fraser Grille. Through digital signage, branding, and student-led marketing efforts, the initiative will create real-world learning experiences. Students will collaborate to manage communications and promote programs, building career-ready skills while strengthening school pride.

Congratulations to Andrea Phillips of Fraser High School, winner of a $1,000 Single Grant!

This grant supports the Peer-2-Peer program at Fraser High School, which brings together general and special education students in a shared, inclusive environment. Students build relationships while participating in everyday high school activities, from academics to social events. The program fosters connection, understanding, and a strong sense of community.

Congratulations to Monica Orlando of Richards Middle School, winner of a $1,400 Single Grant!

This grant introduces vertical learning spaces to her math classroom at Richards Middle School. Using wipeable boards, easels, and research-based strategies, students will collaborate, take risks, and engage more deeply in problem-solving. The initiative supports both student learning and teacher development through innovative instructional practices.

Congratulations to Christina Vrzovski of Fraser High School, winner of a $2,000 Single Grant!

This grant expands the growing Esports program at FHS. It will provide equipment such as consoles, controllers, and team jerseys, offering an inclusive, team-based experience to students. Esports creates opportunities for students to build connections, develop teamwork skills, and find a sense of belonging outside traditional athletics.

This grant supports the continued expansion of the McMahon Thrift Store, which provides free clothing and essentials to all FHS students. With nearly 3,000 student visits in its first year being open, the store has become a critical resource. The funding will help meet growing demand and ensure students have access to necessary items in a supportive, respectful environment.

Congratulations to Shana Fleming and Peyton Krantz at all six elementary schools, winners of a $667.23 Mini Grant!

This grant expands “Krantz’s Kingdom,” a band program initiative that uses game-style incentives to motivate students. By incorporating familiar gaming concepts, students are encouraged to practice, learn musical skills, and work collaboratively. Grant funds will provide materials to bring this engaging, districtwide competition to more elementary band students.

Congratulations to Christina Sorrow of Emerson Elementary, winner of a $500 Mini Grant!

This grant enhances hands-on learning in the Resource Room by adding sensory tools and educational games. These materials will support students’ emotional regulation and provide interactive ways to build essential skills. The project creates an inclusive environment where all students can actively participate and feel successful.

Congratulations to Amy Olenzek at Fraser High School, winner of a $415 Mini Grant!

This grant brings French language learning to life through music. Two francophone guest musicians will visit to teach students traditional and modern French songs using harmonicas, while also exploring how music connects across languages. The grant will fund class sets of harmonicas and support for a guest musician, expanding a highly engaging, culturally immersive experience for students.

Congratulations to Michelle Bungart at Disney Elementary, winner of a $640 Mini Grant!

This grant supports the “Pet Shop”-themed classroom by bringing live animal experiences directly to students. Through programs from local nature centers, students will engage in hands-on learning about animals and the environment. This opportunity is especially meaningful for special education students who may not otherwise have access to field trips.

🎉 Congratulations to the 2022-23 grant winners!

The FEF members surprised Ms. Amy Laidlaw at Eisenhower Elementary School with a big check for $582.35 to purchase the Kimochis Tool Kit to teach her Young 5s students how to recognize and manage their emotions, demonstrate caring and concern for others, establish personal relationships, make responsible decisions and handle challenging situations constructively.
