What is the old adage? The cobbler’s kids need new shoes? Finally, OUR kitchen is getting an overhaul! Ken’s building all-new cabinets. Here’s the beginning of a totally gutted and renovated kitchen!

Friends/clients Kathy and Rick wanted crown moulding in their dining room and living room, then beadboard, and then we moved into the main hallway bath. What a difference ! Kudos to Kathy for choosing great color for the beadboard (wainscoting) and chair rail, and painting them herself!

Ken’s clients bought a home that was specifically adapted to a wheelchair-bound homeowner. There were no doors from the bedroom to the master bath - now there are! He installed two custom-stained ‘by-pass’ doors, and is currently working on a matching oak threshold:

Kenny’s back to making benches! We’ve had this oak headboard/footboard for a while - now it’s becoming a one-of-a-kind piece!

Ken spent some time last week building steps and a rail out of walnut for our friends’ John and Tina’s new food truck upgrade (it’s an Airstream!) Friend Hammer took electricity to it shocking the wood grain (in photo two).

Now this is a crazy bowl! Kenny was given a chunk from a Gum tree, and this is the result - almost leopard-like spots!

Here are finished projects at Sally and Jacey’s house up on the mountain: Tongue and groove was added between the beams on the ceiling on the first level and a custom-built 3-sided cabinet for linens on the upper floor.

More bowls! The first two are apple, the third ridged bowl is maple and the last, a work in progress from wood stumps brought down to us by family from Michigan, is a really interesting walnut!

Thank you for following, your friendship, and for your purchases and business- and Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Client Jan in Highlands just sent this photo. That’s Ken’s wood framed feature wall behind the bed! Love that ‘tone on tone’ look!

BOTH SOLD!)). Ken’s bowls have been selling as soon as he gets them off of the lathe! He’s working on more, but currently has these two for sale. The spalted maple bowl has an opaque blue resin bottom, the other - walnut - kind of reminds you of a Buckeye, (which is hard for a Michigander to say), because of the light spot on the exterior. The larger of the two is 8.5” x 3 1/4,” and the blue is 8 x 2 3/4.” $42/each. We can ship.

No CAD today .. working ‘old school!’

We’re getting ready to be. Vendors at the Darnell Farms Harvest Festival and Plow Fays this Saturday. Newly turned bowls are Sassafras, Oak, Walnut, and a few others not pictured:

I brought home a ‘half of a walnut tree’ from my brother Joe’s property in MD. My good friend Larry put his new portable sawmill to work - and these beautiful slabs are the result! They’ll soon be countertops in our home kitchen.

Kenny’s client Jan sent photos of her new feature wall painted!

Sally and Jacey’s new ceiling is finished. All tongue & groove with insulation behind. New LED ‘can’ lights, too.

I just finished client Jan’s feature wall in her bedroom. Hope to post more pics when she has it painted tone-on-tone:

Fresh off of the wood lathe:

I just finished these two walnut bowls for my niece and her husband as a wedding gift. They’re salt and pepper containers, and the tops stay attached and swivel!

Here’s Sherri’s new custom-built shelf unit. Made from reclaimed oak barn wood..beautiful wood, and very heavy!

Sometimes it’s the little things! I came home to a custom made hair dryer holster made from walnut to match the vanity top! Thanks, hubby!

Ken installed Jan’s entryway hand-made lockers and bench for her grandkids today in Highlands! What can he build for you?

Old sliding glass door replaced by a brand new window. New gaming storage underneath. Call 704-654-6902 for free estimates!

We finished our master bath vanity area. I built the walnut vanity top and used a blue resin inside the knot on the far left side of the live edge. The colors in walnut vary from pinkish to almost a blue grey. It’s a beautiful wood to work with.Fortunately, in our area, in Western North Carolina, walnut is very accessible.

Working on our own master bathroom vanity top. Live edge and blue resin detail. First coat of poly, many more coats and I’ll install a hammered copper drop in sink. More pics to come.

Joy and Kevin’s new mantle is now installed in their Clayton GA home!

Our master closet..lots of storage for clothes, boots and shoes! It’s a work in progress..

I finished phase 1 of Joy and Kevin’s first floor in their vacation home in Clayton, GA. New living room, hallway, bath and master bedroom. I finished a total glut and remodel in the master bathroom. Removed cast iron tub, toilet and vanity and installed and tiled a new shower and glass doors, toilet, vanity, light fixtures and built a custom shelving unit. Trimmed and painted all walls and built-in. Last photo are ‘befores.’

This was my wife’s uncle’s old bed - both headboard and foot board, from his Michigan farmhouse. I built her this bench for a Christmas 🎄 gift. She’s a furniture painter (OliveYouMore), and will get busy painting it!

I just finished a portico for client Alexis in Franklin. Built, finished with a interior ceiling of tongue and groove pine, shingles and flashing on the top of the roof. Once the structure dries out, the entire exterior will also be stained. Newly built gate and stair rail, too!

Toby’s newly built, stained and sealed built-in wall unit and L-shaped desk for her brand new home:

Jennifer and Brandon’s AirBNB’s remodel is almost complete! This bath was gutted except for the tub/shower and toilet. New crown, vanity/mirror, lightning, new tile floor and barn door with hardware...very pretty!

Added crown moulding, decorative moulding and wider baseboards for Jennifer’s home in Highlands.
