Great Outdoors RV Resort

Thank you Great Outdoors RV Resort for supporting Udder Delite dairy bar these past few weeks. We have really enjoyed serving this ice cream loving community and hope we can continue in the future!!
I am a one man show who sings to backing tracks; I try to be upfront about that. I know most places prefer live bands or musicians but if ever interested let me know! Available for rotation spots, fill in/replacement, or special events (public, private, corporate). Thank you -dmc
First time staying at The Great Outdoors RV Resort but certainly won't be the last. Spent 4 nights in the middle of a planned trip so we couldn't extend. The new owners were very visible and always eager to make our stay better. The roads are smooth, only about 3 months old and the sites are clean gravel. Sites are large enough for most rigs. Large grassed bark bark and next to laundry is a dog wash station.
Good morning GORV!
Knocking off the afternoon chill.
Snow day at Great Outdoors RV Resort!
This is not a 10/10 rv park - not scenic in transcient area, noisy from Hwy 441, wifi does not work in lower areas, not welcoming to large rally groups, cell phone would not work in lower area, sites are not level and too short for big rigs, will not guarantee site reservation location. I will not pay for unknown site that may not be acceptable. Come on man! Where is your customer relationship.
treat customers like **** and you won't have to treat them at all in the future. We won't return.
We want to congratulate our friends at The Great Outdoors RV Resort in Franklin, NC for being featured as the Campground Spotlight in the Family RVing Magazine!! (And the cover photo, too!) 🤩🎉

Many of you know that The Great Outdoors is kind of our “home away from home” and our go-to park when we visit Chad’s parents in The Smokeys. The owners, Mike and Polly are super friendly and helpful and have a beautiful, well-kept campground. You can tell that they take pride in what they do!

Be sure to give The Great Outdoors RV Resort a visit, the next time you are wanting to explore the Smoky Mountains! And tell them Changing Lanes sent you! 😜

Great Outdoors RV Resort
Recently stayed at the Great Outdoors Resort in Franklin NC. Although they posted their Good Sam Rating in their office, they would not allow the 10% Good Sam discount off the campground fee. The cancellation policy is the pits and most of their campsites are not level, with many motorhomes having their front wheels from two to six inches off the ground. Also, many of the campsites are not long enough to park both the RV and the tow vehicle, unless you park your small toad at an angle real tight near the front of the RV. The gravel campsite we were on needed more gravel with six to eight inch diameter holes of clay showing through the gravel. They have an arrival window from 3PM to 5PM and if not in the window, charge early and late arrival fees. We had originally reserved eight days and at check-in wanted to leave a day early, but we had to pay full amount for the last day we did not stay. Will not return to this park -- ever.
Are showers available??

We are known for our panoramic vistas of the beautiful Smoky Mountains of Western North Carolina. We are motorcycle-friendly and pet-friendly.

No RV, no problem, we have 3 beautiful cabins! Coach, Camper or Cabin, we have a spot for you!

We still have a few sites available for Memorial Day weekend! Book online or call the office at 828-349-0412.

Head to the Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts for Seussical the Musical!

"Oh, the thinks you can think" when Dr. Seuss' best-loved characters collide and cavort in an unforgettable musical caper! Seussical is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza which lovingly brings to life all of literature’s favorite Dr. Seuss characters. The Cat in the Hat tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust that contains the land of the Whos, including Jojo, a child with an often troublesome imagination. Horton faces a double challenge: not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant, all to the sounds of an award-winning Broadway score. Approximately one hour in length.

When is the last time you went to see a show? The Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts is a high-tech, 1,500-seat venue for professional theater, dance festivals, concerts, films & comedy.

The Little Tennessee River Greenway was accepted into the National Recreation Trails (NRT) system in 2008. The National Trails System Act of 1968 (Public Law 90-543) authorized the creation of a national system of trails comprised of National Recreation Trails, National Scenic Trails, and National Historic Trails. Each NRT must demonstrate that it represents its region, supports a diverse community, and is among Americas best trails. Today, the Greenway is one of 1307 trails federally designated throughout the United States.

Get LAZY with Lazy Hiker Brewing Co. --less than 10 minutes from our park!!

"Lazy Hiker Brewing Company has been crafting great beer and community since 2015. Located in the former town hall and fire department, our brewery in Franklin includes a taproom, an outdoor patio, disc golf, and an outdoor event space. In 2019 we expanded and opened a second taproom with Mad Batter Kitchen, which includes a game lounge and outdoor patio, in beautiful downtown Sylva, NC.

We want to provide a great community gathering place where you can kick back, relax, and meet new people. We want to be a good fit for the mountain region we have come to know and love. And we want to do all that with great beer.

Look for our beers on tap and in cans in the 38 western counties of North Carolina and 37 northeast counties of Georgia. If you’re driving through Franklin or Sylva or even hiking by on the nearby Appalachian Trail, walk down and check us out. Grab a bite to eat at the food truck. Take a glance out back and get a peak at our 15-barrel brewhouse."

Nearly half of Macon County, of which Franklin is the county seat, lies within the Nantahala National Forest. Comprised of over half of a million acres of unspoiled beauty, the rolling mountains rise to peaks over 5,000 ft. high from the valley of the Little Tennessee River. See panoramic mountain views from Wayah Bald Lookout Tower.

The “Smoke” in the Mountains is Actually Fog: What gives the mountains their signature smoky look? The “smoke” is in fact fog that is released by vegetation in the mountains. The millions of bushes, trees, and other plants in the Smokies all give off a little v***r when they exhale, and this comes together to form the magical haze that wafts through the area. The fog often appears blue because the v***r scatters blue light from the sky.
