Just a word to the general public. My mother is in Crestpark nursing home in Stuttgart, Arkansas. She has told me that they are not caring for her needs. I spoke to her today and she reports to me that she was not fed or bathed on a regular basis and had to lay in her own urine for hours before she received help from the nurses. Her glasses and other items of her personal belongings are missing. She also stated that her pain medication is being stolen. I would like someone to investigate this as I am unable to return home to rescue her from this horrible environment.

Gean, Gean & Gean is a family owned law firm. There are currently four attorneys practicing. Roy Gean III, David Gean, Michael Pierce, and Elizabeth Roberts are all experienced lawyers who will aggressively pursue a beneficial solution for you.

Sebastian County Sheriff's Office

Warrant Amnesty Week begins on 12-3-18
Captain P Pevehouse

In the spirit of the Season, SCSO is announcing a misdemeanor warrant amnesty week to begin on 12-3-18. The amnesty period will run through 12-7-18. The week will give citizens with active misdemeanor warrants an opportunity to resolve their cases without going to jail. Active warrants can result in arrest if the citizen encounters law enforcement. They will be taken to jail.

There are currently over 20,000 active warrants in Sebastian County. Of this number around 70 percent are of a misdemeanor classification.

The following warrant types qualify for the Amnesty Program:

FTA: If a person has an outstanding failure to appear warrant, they will be allowed to report to the District Court Business Office and pay a $20.00 amnesty fee. The warrant will be recalled and the underlying charge(s) will be placed back on a docket for arraignment.

FTPF: If a person has an outstanding contempt-fail to pay fine warrant, the will be allowed to report to the District Court Business Office and pay a $20.00 amnesty fee. The warrant will be recalled and the defendant’s balance will be reset back up on a payment plan.

FTAS: If a person has an outstanding failure to answer summons warrant, they will be allowed to report to the District Court Business Office and pay a $20.00 amnesty fee. The warrant will be recalled and the defendant will be allowed to enter a plea on the underlying charge and given additional time to pay the citation.

If someone has a warrant which meets these criteria they are to go in person to the District Court Offices in either Fort Smith or Greenwood and speak with the Court. Phone calls will not work for the program and the lines will be very busy. You must appear in person. A $20 amnesty fee will be applicable in order to resolve the warrant. The fee is will go to the District Court. Fines owed will still be applicable, but payment options are available.

Last year around 500 citizens took advantage of the program.

[11/19/18]   We will be closed Thanksgiving and Friday the 23rd.

Happy Thanksgiving!
