Zee is an indie-rock solo artist, based out of Fort Collins, CO who writes original and eclectic music using her electric, seven-string violin.
Zee Irelynn, electric violinist and singer-songwriter, grew up in and around the heart of Music City. Her musical style has been heavily influenced by Nashville's rich music scene and now she is bringing that influence across the country as she plants her roots in Fort Collins, CO. Bringing her electric violin into the forefront of mainstream music, she mixes elements of soulful blues and classic
rock with traces of modern indie. Zee's instrument of choice, a seven-string, fretted, electric Wood Violin, called a Viper, allows her to access many sounds and effects that are not possible with a traditional acoustic violin. Growing up, Zee was submersed in the world of classical violin through the Suzuki Method, but quickly began to explore other styles including classic rock, fiddle, Celtic fiddle and the blues. It wasn't long after she acquired her electric violin that Zee began taking vocal lessons and began to develop her own, unique sound. Violinists such as Alison Krauss, Mark Wood, Andrew Bird and Tracy Silverman have influenced Zee’s musical style. Most of Zee's vocal influence comes from Robert Plant's music, both in Led Zeppelin and as a solo act. She also draws inspiration from female singers Brandi Carlile, Norah Jones and Grace Potter. Zee has studied with instrumentalists and vocalists including Mark Wood, Tracy Silverman, David Wallace, Dana Leong, Laura Kaye, Eric Gorfain, and Joe Deninzon. Instrumentalists and vocalists that Zee has studied with privately include David Johnson, Cheri Drummond, Hari Bernstein, Judith Ablon (instrumental), Laura Kaye, and Janna Jandry (vocal). Zee studied Classical and Commercial Violin and Viola at Trevecca Nazarene University. Zee is an indie-rock solo artist who writes original and eclectic music using her electric, seven-string violin.
