One of the best ways to learn about a town’s history isn’t from a textbook. It’s from the people working to preserve it.

Recently I attended a concert hosted by the Berthoud Historical Society and learned more about the stories, traditions, and community spirit that make Berthoud such a special place.

I even picked up a really cool, vintage Berthoud Fire Department shirt, which helps support the Historical Society’s efforts to preserve local history. 🚒

History isn’t just about the past. It’s about keeping the stories alive for future generations.

Today was our first Berthoud Day Parade as part of this incredible community, and my heart is full.

What a day.

We celebrated alongside hardworking small business owners, community leaders, volunteers, families, and neighbors who make Berthoud such a special place to call home. The amount of work that goes into an event like this is remarkable, and we’re so grateful to everyone who makes it happen.

A huge thank you to my amazing team, my daughter Sabrina, my dear friend Vickie, Brock, and everyone who helped us show up and be part of something bigger than ourselves.

We brought 60 pounds of candy, giveaways, two dogs, and a whole lot of excitement.

We also learned that 60 pounds of candy is apparently nowhere near enough for Berthoud Day. 😂 We were completely cleaned out about halfway through the parade!

One of my favorite parts of the day was seeing friends stop by, including Lorinn and her kids. I’ve known Lorinn since we were 13 years old, and watching Cailyn get ready to become a CSU Ram was one of those full-circle moments that reminds you how quickly time passes.

As I reflected on the day, I kept thinking about how we got here in the first place.

I was born in Wheatland and raised in Laramie, Wyoming, so I’ve always been a small-town girl at heart. And long before we purchased our building, my friend Ginny Thacker kept telling me, “You need to look at Berthoud.”

She saw something special here before I did.

Through every step of this journey, Ginny and Josh have encouraged us, welcomed us, connected us to people, and helped with countless projects at the building. Quite honestly, without their friendship and support, we may never have found our way here.

Today, standing in that parade and seeing this community show up the way it did, I found myself incredibly grateful that they kept encouraging us to take a closer look.

We came to introduce ourselves to Berthoud.

Instead, Berthoud introduced itself to us.

Thank you for the warm welcome. We’re proud to call Berthoud home. ❤️🐴🇺🇸
