Please think of contributing to the Flint Repertory Theatre. I had the honor of painting a mural consisting of over 260 8“x 8“ canvases that you can personally receive a piece of while donating to an excellent cause.

What’s that colorful mural on the Flint Rep wall? It’s a REPresentation of 6 great seasons of theatre. And more importantly, it’s a tribute to YOU—our supporters!

Local artist Charles Boike has captured the spirit of innovation at Flint Rep in this stunning piece of art, and to help us keep it alive through the Flint Rep Annual Fund! Your gifts add new tiles to the mural, creating a vibrant display of our community’s generosity.

I recently learned the mural I completed over the summer honoring Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha had been defaced. Dr. Mona’s research discovered heightened lead levels in her patients from Flint tap water. The subject matter of my large-scale murals often capture Flint’s rich history through local heroes, like Dr. Mona. The reference photo I used for the mural was photographed by local photographer Mike Naddeo. I painted the mural for free and volunteered 40 hours of my time in partnership with Flint Public Art Project. It’s disheartening because of all the hard work that was put into the project. We will be working to hopefully get it restored. Ultimately, I’d like to have a conversation to understand what part of the mural offended the person who vandalized it or why they felt a need to vandalize it.
