[03/31/21]   CHAMBER NEWS—3/30/2021-JEFFCO Health Department Allows COVID Countywide Mask Order to Expire’

March 25, 2021

The Jefferson County Health Department Board of Trustees during their regular monthly meeting have decided to allow the ongoing COVID Countywide Mask Order to expire. The County Executive concurs in this decision and supports the same.

While there are many opinions on both sides of this issue the Health Department and the County agree that this is not the time to let our collective guard down. We, as a County, need to continue to practice social distancing, good hygiene, obtain a vaccine if desired, stay home when sick and wear masks as a personal choice even though not ordered by public agencies.

While we are mindful of the changes in the COVID numbers and are making changes in recommendations in response to these lower trends, this is a time for personal responsibility to ensure these numbers continue to trend downward. Please help us ensure our collective Public Health remains high and our numbers remain low. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Leah Smith
Executive Assistant | County Executive Dennis Gannon

Twin City Area Chamber of Commerce CHRISTMAS PARADE

72ndAnnual Chamber Christmas Parade Cancelled for 2020

Thank you for your interest in participating in the Chamber Christmas Parade this year. With our community’s health as a top priority, we have decided to cancel the 72ndAnnual Twin City Chamber Christmas Parade scheduled for Monday, Nov. 30th,

The difficult decision to cancel the parade was made after much consideration. Notably, health officials have reported that Jefferson County re-entered the "red zone" last week. This means there is uncontrolled and widespread community transmission. In addition, our community’s local hospital is near capacity and has tightened visitor restrictions.

We understand the disappointment with cancelling the parade and apologize for any inconvenience. Together we can all look forward to this beloved community tradition returning in 2021.

In our statement to the public we have reminded members of the community to remain socially distant, stay close to home, and follow official COVID-19 guidelines. In addition, with the Christmas season upon us, shoppers are reminded of the many safe options available to support our local businesses such as curbside service, home delivery, and online local purchases this season.

Although the parade will not be happening, we would like to extend a happy and healthy Christmas season to you and your families!
