Opening Day of the 2026 Federal Way Farmers Market season was a smashing success! Thank you to everyone who came out to support local vendors and celebrate with us. ☀🍎

Based on feedback we received at the Market, we’ve made a few adjustments to help ensure the Market is welcoming for all community members.

✅ Additional ADA parking spaces are now available at Town Square Park
✅ The PAEC parking lot will be open each week, with ADA parking available there as well

Parking is available in several locations around the Market, including the gravel parking area next to the new civic plaza lawn. Check out the map on this post for suggested parking areas and the easiest ways to access the Market.

See you at the Market!

I stopped by the Senior Health & Resource Fair at the Federal Way Performing Arts & Event Center today. It's such a great event and a wonderful opportunity for all of the seniors in our community!

Thank you to our Senior Advisory Commission for all of your hard work in making this event a reality every year, and thank you to all of our sponsors for your contributions!

We kicked off the 2026 season of the Federal Way Farmers Market this morning at our new location next to Town Square Park!

It’s moments like today when Federal Way can feel like a small town in the best sense!

Come on down, buy some flowers and produce, and eat some good food!

As the great philosopher Christoper Walken once said, “more cowbell!”

I joined regional and county leaders at Microsoft headquarters yesterday for a really interesting conversation on governmental applications of AI. Microsoft CEO Brad Smith and former Governor, and current Challenge Seattle CEO, Christine Gregoire presented at the event.

It’s important that we are thinking thoughtfully about the future. AI will certainly play a role in how we use technology going forward. I want to make sure we are being conscious of the areas it can provide tools that can better help us serve the public while also recognizing the challenges it may create.

I really enjoyed spending the afternoon with a thoughtful group of students from Seattle Pacific University. Their curiosity and energy were contagious.

Many of them are planning to pursue law school and brought insightful questions about public policy, my time serving as Mayor of Federal Way, and how government really works behind the scenes.

Conversations like these give me a lot of hope for the next generation of leaders!

I joined members our City Council at the annual Centerstage Fundraiser at Twin Lakes Golf & Country Club last night.

Centerstage is one of the great organizations in our City and provides many great opportunities for families interested in the arts. I am always happy to support their efforts!

It was a great morning at Steel Lake Park today watching kids cast their lines at our “I’m Hooked” Kids Fishing Event.

We had 600 signups for this year’s event and thousands of fish in the lake for them to catch!

It’s such a fun event every year and always great to see the smiles of kids and families as they reel in a big one!
