A morning well spent at ! From fountain pen preferences 🖋️ to brand management & advice on my gray hairs to consumer protection and taking on big corporations, the group brought out the best start to a sunny day with levity & laughter!

Followed by several constituent meetings on HEAL Act outcomes & implementation and City of des Moines, Washington transportation safety needs, today was a great day!

Robust conversation about serious questions at “Coffee with Kristine” this morning! It’s amazing the things we can discuss when we build community and trust! Thanks to Mike & David for being willing to ask the hard questions and being open to having a real conversation about what matters most. I am so grateful for a group of folks willing to engage in the work of building community!

Another morning of community conversations - reflections on what’s working, what’s not, whether we can hold corporations accountable via charters in the WA Secretary of State office, the impacts of fuel prices on farmers ⛽️, the city arts budget 🖼️, city public safety taxes 👮🏻‍♀️, budget accountability & program outcomes, the tension between systems change and a desire for collaboration and compromise, and pasta 🍝, lots of talk about pasta 🤤!

This group of committed citizens shows up and asks us to think deeply about this community and its future. Grateful for them all! Maybe we will see you at the next one?

Starting my week focused on how we “nourish the nation” with the amazing teams from our Washington State Department of Agriculture & the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction, leaders from Food Lifeline & Second Harvest Food Bank, and the dedicated staff of the United States Department of Agriculture as WA hosts the National ACDA conference to talk about food security, farm viability, feeding kids & seniors, and the power of transforming systems through teamwork! I have been working on regulating ticket sales in the state of WA for the last three years. With this news, I am hopeful that we can finally get some meaningful regulations in place here in WA that protect consumers and hold Live Nation & Ticketmaster accountable in 2027!

Earlier this week, I was honored to present to the Federal Way City Council, on behalf of the 30th Legislative District Delegation, to share a “Post-Session Debrief”. This included a discussion on the City’s policy priorities, budget requests, locally targeted investments, and what comes next in 2027!

In a time where division drives our political narrative, collaboration that centers our communities is key. Thanks to Sen. Claire Wilson & Rep. Jamila Taylor for their leadership in community; to the Mayor & City Council for the opportunity to share an update on how your state team defended city priorities on transportation, public safety, housing, and childcare; and to the community for your advocacy on issues that matter most to you and your family!

As we fight to save the planet, fighting for the people on it must be central to the solution. As the Chair of the House Ag & Natural Resources committee, I was humbled to spend the morning talking with & learning from nearly 200 natural resource experts on the future of the timber industry in WA and on the west coast, the future of our state trust land obligations, and what it will mean for school funding, rural economic development, and our work ahead in the House AgNR committee. Thank you for making time to share your lived experiences!

Last week, I was honored to join 5th grade students at Lakeland Elementry to talk about civics and joined Principal Ebel at Green Gables Elementary for the day to better understand the “day in the life” of our school principles!

Thank you to the parents and educators that made these visits possible. Getting to see what is working and what needs more of our attention in Olympia to help every student in our Federal Way Public Schools succeed is invaluable!

We don’t always talk politics! Today we shared stories about healthcare access, upcoming community events folks are excited about, we talked about healing the divide amoung & between our neighbors, and what the future may hold for our families!

We don’t always agree, nor should we. Diversity of experience and thought strengthen our communities. But we can’t know unless we connect & communicate!
